This is right. Totally depends on what he is saying and how he is saying it. If he is talking about it like he is somehow now a super hero, sure, bring him back down to earth. But if he's just proud of himself for doing something he didn't think he'd ever be able to do - let it go.

The idea that everyone should desire to be a pro level runner is absurd. Adding running to an intelligent fitness routine should be applauded. Getting fit enough to face a four hour run is well beyond the aspirations of most of the people in the world. Not everyone has talent- can you play the violin, paint in oil, do a middle level high school level pommel horse exercise or a rebound tumbling routine, are you fluent in Sami, Frisian or even conversational in Udmurt ?
No need to make him live your dream of being a noteworthy runner, make him happy that you support his dedication to fitness and are his friend.
