The real question is whether the cartoon Jackie could beat the real Jackie.

In all respects Chan is superior to Lee. As a fighter and athlete he was more than a match for Lee as a result of his extreme training. {Twenty hours of hard exercise a day for years at a chinese opera training school where discipline was very strict} Lee had a lot of talent and was a super athlete, but as far as I know he never went through anything remotely like what Chan did.
Also, as far as movies go, Chan is the master. The innovation and incredible skill that went into some of his masterpeices has never been matched in the martial arts genre. His dedication to his films was unquestionable as he suffered dozens of injuries {some very serious} while attempting stunts nobody had ever dreamed of trying before. Chan's films also are more well-rounded than most other martial arts flicks. Humor, plot, and great camera work can always be found in the movies Chan directed. Not since the glorious days of Chaplin and Keaton has there been such sophisticated slapstick comedy. Lee has rightfully earned his place in film history, But Chan is a legend in his own time, a creative genius whose contributions to cinema are simply huge.
Jackie Chan is a comedian, Bruce Lee was insane, but I think Jet Li could take them both on at the same time.
agreed. jet li owns.
Chan wins this one... No doubt in my mind...
Personally I was more entertained by Chuck Norris and David Carradine slapping the shit out of each other in Lone Wolf McQuaid. Especially when you consider Carradine doesn't really know any of that stuff.
Chan is the better fighter by a mile!

BRUCE LEE, on the other hand, was a badass in real life, by all accounts. I've heard an interview from one of the people working on a movie with Bruce Lee about how there was this guy sitting up on a wall who was heckling Bruce Lee, shouted down to him that he wasn't all that tough. So Bruce Lee put the movie on hold for a few minutes, allowed the guy to come down and take a shot at the champ, wiped the floor with the kid and continued filming.
As I recall that interview was given by John Saxon, co-star of "Enter the Dragon".
Bruce Lee was rated much better than Jackie Chan or Jet Li by Bob Wall, a many-time World Martial Arts champion who gave an extensive interview a couple of years ago. He even went so far as to say that Bruce Lee was a formidable grappler who would have cleaned up in the UFC/MMA competitions.
I have a cousin named Bruce Rhee.
Wow, you runners don't know anything about fighting. Chan at his prime was NOT more powerful than Lee. Not even close.
If you look at the way they punch, Chan throws arm punches where the trust is mainly derived from the triceps and shoulder whereas Lee, with his dance and fencing experience, involves his shoulder, back, and trapezius to involve a more powerful lunge strike.
Also, Lee's incorporation of multiple styles, including jiu-jitsu and wrestling, simply outclass Chan's linear Kung/Gung fu style of fighting. Lee would be able to take Chan down at will and pound him away or get a choke/sub without breaking a sweat.
You, sir, have not got a clue. David Miller, in the Tao of Bruce Lee, demonstrates clearly that there where not much power to Lee's strikes (he was a ChaCHa dancer for God's sake!). The myth of his strength and power comes from extras on the set of his later films which he paid off to tell of his superhuman (sic!) skills. This is well documented...
Chan is also much more explosive, which suggests his punches would generate more power than Lee's.
There is no doubt he is the better fighter (and he has a sense of humor to boot...).
wow....YOU PEOPLE SUCK =(.... Way to ruin my inspirational vision of bruce lee...
You clearly haven't read Miller. His point of view is far from being one sided... He simply draws a portrait of Lee that is faithful to the real man: not a legend who defeated armies of ninjas, but a good martial artist (and an excellent ChaCha dancer!) with a knack for self-promotion and image creation. More importantly Miller especially commends Lee for his amazing drive to succeed at all costs (though that probably contributed to his death with substantial amounts of steroids found in his bloodstream and traces of THC (marijuana) which Lee used as a pain killer and appetite suppressant).
Marijuana as an appetite suppressant?
the real question is could either take on and beat dalton, patrick swayze's character in roadhouse.
bruce lee slowed down his punches and kicks in films so that the could more easily be captured on film for those of you who didn\'t know.
Bruce lee also went undefeated his entire career as a martial artist. He could do three fingered one arm pushups, he could kick a 300 lb heavy bag and make it swing up and hit the ceiling. He could tear a heavy bag with a kind of finger whip he developed. His one inch punch could easily knock an averaged size man up into the air. Enough said, Chan is crap compared to lee. The only thing jackie chan is good for is stunts because of his skills as an acrobat. Bruce lee also had the capacity to train himself to the point of exhaustion which many believe to be his cause of death. How many people do you know can train themselves to the point of death. Bruce Lee is the man. Heck Brandon Lee probably could have kicked chan's butt.
