Best of luck to your daughter! I've worked in undergraduate admissions at some of the schools mentioned on this thread and also spent some time working in graduate (law and business) admissions at the sort of top schools where graduates of these schools often end up. I apologize if I'm overly blunt but I would encourage your daughter to focus on Williams, Amherst, and Swarthmore if she is interested in graduate or professional school after her undergraduate education. The education at these three schools is excellent but I don't believe there to be any significant difference between, say Amherst and Hamilton, but in the eyes of graduate and professional schools -- for better or worse -- there is. The admissions committees at top graduate and professional schools read applications from the top three LACs differently than they do those from (also excellent) schools like Pomona or Macalester. Your daughter will certainly have an excellent experience at any of the schools it seems you're considering but there are certainly advantages, whether deserved or not, inherent in attending the best possible LAC one can.
