Pretty sure it has to do with Reid. Blew up and Worlds and there is talk about him not being selected for the Olympics. Look at how Worlds went for Canada though. They took a man coming back from an injury who isn't so young anymore and can't recover like he did a decade ago. Took Rob who has been battling inconsistency for the last few years. Brandon, don't even know where to start with that kid. Injured for weeks leading up and since Worlds. They sucked at worlds. Bad selection process and Athletics Canada doesn't support their athletes. What country really does though?
No, the reference is to Krista Duchene, who has the Athletics Canada A+++ standard in the marathon, but currently is ineligible to go because she has to prove fitness and has failed to do so.
Reid is the guy that donated $10,000 to his club and then had people donate a bunch of money to his training camps, pretty much reimbursing himself. Sketchy. And was selected to some national relay team when he had no intention of racing the event to the best of his abilities. So he could chill with Japanese undergrads while resting for the Fukuoka marathon.
Rob is funny. Maybe someday he'll stop thinking that positive splitting races by a lot is cool and actually run to the best of his abilities. I always cheer for the guy and hope this will happen. Go Rob!
