REVEL is the worst. They market these downhill marathons as being guaranteed PR's and get mass numbers of people to show up so they can run an "easier" marathon. This kind of tactic has seriously damaged normal flat marathons in the mountain west region. It sucks. There are no flat marathons left in Utah.
That is the biggest reason that St. George gets the best Utahan locals. It has history (Paul Cummings held the course record there until last year, and he was no slouch) and there aren't any other local options, and not everybody can afford the ~$1000 it takes to go to California just to maybe get a PR.
