Wrong. If he's close, top 7, he'll hang on for the money.
He's got money, but whatever he makes on Saturday is that much more than he had before the race started (f-ing profound!!!)
I bet you don't know too much about running. I will also bet that many are clueless as to the affect/effect (argue it) that the heat is going to have in 3 short days from today. Running slower can be worse for some runners and not for others.
You'll see.
L.A., bad choice for the trials as the gamble didn't pay off.
It's "effect," not "affect." No need to argue it.
If Rupp gets to a point in the race where the best he can realistically finish is around seventh, I think he'll drop out. It's almost certainly the better choice financially, since race promoters, sponsors, the general public, the general running community, and even some ranking organizations are more likely to overlook or minimize a DNF than a slow time and a low place. (I'm not making a judgment about that tendency here.) It's also more likely to be better for his preparation for the 10,000 in both the trials and Rio.
I'm not yet convinced that LA was a bad choice for the trials, or that the (apparently unseasonable) temperatures are a serious problem. Times will probably be slower, with more DNFs. No big deal. I think it's unlikely to create serious recovery issues for the runners who are selected for the team.
