hahahahahahahahaha Illinois just murdered this entire thread. 3 Footlocker champions don't even make their top 7.

I might not have Chad Hal or AJ Acosta on my all Cali team, although An argument for Chad could certainly be made. Also, check the scoreboard for actual xc teams lately

NYC??? Tough place to cull great X-C runners from, don't you think. Got to find room for Mikey Brannigan though if we're talking New York State.
Eric won while still in HS; Hunt was a freshman at Arizona.
My thinking, as well - that Lompoc team was bullet-proof!
It appears people are going pretty far back. Maybe CT should consider Bill Rodgers, John J. Kelley, Amby Burfoot.

They weren't great HS XC runners, sorry, read the thread title and try again.
If you go back in time a bit, Walter Deneen should be on the boys' list. And maybe Jack Burton.

Barry Sirches and Mark Coogan are both ahead of Quigley in HS along Dan Dillon. McArdle should not be on the list based on HS.
No question. I ran "with" him--incredible. Didn't have the track times of these guys, but was a beast in XC.
Wilmington NC for girls.
You must be from Spokane! You know, there are other cities in WA.
Lindgren
Tanner Anderson
Joe Hardy
Anthoney Armstrong
Dressel
Matt Davis
Kia Wilmot
I'd say off the top of my head this group for Louisiana boys, but I could be missing a top guy from the 70s/80s
Mike Morin- FL finalist
Ryan Travis- FL finalist
Robby Leblanc- USATF JO Champion
Devyn Keith- NXN finalist
Bobby Beck
Eric Coston
Pablo Presado
Definitely a great initial list for Nevada, especially on the women's side. Mel Lawrence was dominant.

Alright, I realize I am quite tardy for the party, but I hope we are still doing this!
Here's my picks from my home state North Dakota
1. Jake Leingang (8:51 two mile)
2. Corey Ihmels (9:03 two mile)
3. Sam Clausnitzer (9:10 two mile)
4. Hunter Lucas (9:09 two mile, 14:53.69 5k)
5. Greg Rohde (15:05 5k)
6. Jeff Dick (9:10 two mile)
7. Joash Osoro (9:12 two mile)
Lucas has yet to win a state Xc title but has his senior year in 2016 and his track numbers compared to others in the state prove he still deserves a spot.
The rest have each won 1 or more state Xc titles
I disagree with a few parts of this, and would like to add the women's list. Corey Ihmels won a national Kinney XC title, while Jake Leingang took 3rd two consecutive years at Foot Locker, so Ihmels has to be #1. I would also like to add Louie Koch to the bottom of the list, because he won three consecutive Class B titles, and while they aren't as competitive at Class A, only Leingang and Ihmels have ever won 3 XC titles. It means something. I would place him #7 and one of the bottom three simply because of the state titles. Also, Greg Rohde never won a state xc individual title, so it's hard to be included among the all-time best when there wasn't a single year that he was the best.
North Dakota
1. Corey Ihmels (Kinney National Champion, 3-time state XC Champion, 9:03 3200m)
2. Jake Leingang (3rd Footlocker twice, 15:04 XC 5k at Footlocker, 3-time state xc champion)
3. Joash Osoro (2007 Nike Heartland Regional XC Champ, 2-time state xc champion)
4. Sam Clausnitzer (2-time state xc champion, 9:10 3200m)
5. Jeff Dick (2-time state xc champion, 9:10 3200m)
6. Louie Koch (3-time state Class B xc champion)
7. Hunter Lucas (1-time state xc champion [lost twice to #4 on the list though], 9:09 3200m)
The North Dakota women's list is quite hard, because there have been some incredibly dominant figures, but I will nonetheless try. I'm putting more weight on the Class B, because the top women's Class B runners have been some of the fastest runners in state history, no matter what class
1. Joan Hammeren (5-time state Class A XC Champion, more than anybody else)
2. Lindsay Anderson (4-time state Class B XC Champion, Foot Locker qualifier, set the bar for Class B)
3. Laura Roesler (only 2 state Class A titles, but could've had at least one more if she wasn't running 2:03 800 at the Olympic Trials one year)
4. Tarin Lachowitzer (3-time state Class A XC Champion)
5. Staci Honeyman (4-time state Class B XC Champion)
6. Reagan Baesler (3-time state Class B XC Champion)
7. Meghan Ford (1 state title, currently running in high school still, has run sub-18 XC)

Yeah, Bill Rodgers was only a state champion, he sucked. What was I thinking. Dipsh*t;)

Rich Kimball has to be on California's team. He went undefeated in fall of 1973 dominating everyone including Kingery. He also ran 13:43.6 3-mile on track that fall and then was the World Junior cross country champion.
I'm not including anything he did on the track.
Terry Williams also should be on it. Just look him to see how good he was the fall of 1972.
(You DID just mention he ran a 13:43.6 on the TRACK. Hello?)
STOP with the TRACK TIMES people! The OP ask for "Best All-Time HS All-Star XC".
"XC" means Cross Country on a "Cross Country Course".
No need to try to build a case for ANY runner by dropping Track Times in the equation.
Look at the body of work that they have done ( in XC ) throughout H.S. and then decide. One good year or season their senior year ( in 72' or 73') does not make them an All-timer![/quote]
I get to clarify my statement three years later.
The 13:43.6 was run at San Jose State track on December 1st, 1973 as part of the US Postal race back then and part of the cross country season.
What I meant about not using his track times , were the times he produced in 1974.
Great thread - wish I had seen it from the beginning. Regardless, are we going to finally run this virtual cc meet anytime soon - like maybe by FLN this year? Not sure exactly how we would do that - maybe somebody (or Brojos) could set up a poll or something else (computer simulation would be awesome). Anyway, the last time pre841 aggregated the state teams was on 02/15/2016 (page 18), which I quote below. Several of the missing states were filled in after this, as well as numerous proposed updates to the included states, but it seems like the best starting point to get the rosters cleaned up and ready to go for the upcoming virtual nats!
