+1. Fantastic.
You have to watch all 4(?) seasons. Season 1 was just setup. The last two seasons were WAY BETTER than season 1.
I'dd add:
- The Wire
- Rome
- Deadwood
- Luther
- Peaky Blinders
- Homeland
Second tier:
- Sons of Anarchy
- The Amerikans (sp?)
- 24

I think these are all better than the previous generation of must-watch shows like House of Cards....
House of Cards started in 2013, and will start a 4th season later this year. How is a less than three-year-old show "previous generation"?
Mine are, well, different!
Raunchier, more "adult", but they're all excellent.
I binge-watched all 4.
Wentworth (aka Wentworth Prison)
about a prison for women, but far better (& tougher) than Orange is the New Black.
Read the reviews--they all say the same!
has 3 years of episodes
Rita
a show from Denmark--so has sub-titles, easily readable--
about a very hip & tough & beautiful teacher of 4th & 9th grade kids
also about her home life, and all the people she works with
has 3 years of episodes
Grace and Frankie
stars Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin
Only 1 season in, but very funny and well done
Californication
saved the best for last!
hilarious, yet deeply poignant drama about man who pines to get back with the mother of his very wise daughter
7 seasons--12 half hour episodes per season
goes forward linearly, so you see the daughter go from age 12 to 19, and all the changes in all the character's lives
my favorite of the 4 I suggested, but all 4 are great, and well worth your time!
Madmen!
House of Cards

Thanks for this!
And thanks to ALL for your suggestions! This is great!
HBO
Deadwood
The Wire
Rome
Sherlock Holmes
House of Cards
F is for Family is amazing if you're a fan of Bill Burr's comedy
Forgot about Mr Robot that show is awesome same with Blindspot.
House of Cards, Narcos, Sons of Anarchy.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Weeds.
HIGH Profits = 12 part documentary about a couple that sells marijuana legally in Colorado.
If you're receiving Netflix dvd's, get ready for 20% of them to be scratched to the point of unplayable...You're an hour into a film and suddenly the screen image freezes and won't advance, so you pull the disc out and examine it and there is a grievous gash running over its surface, a gash so obviously unplayable--but they sent it anyhow.
DERSU UZALA
MC CABE AND MS.MILLER
MATEWAN
VALHALLA RISING
SANSHO THE BAILIFF
THE THIN RED LINE
THE PROPOSITION
BUFFALO 66
THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE
LATE SPRING
AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD
I agree with most of the suggestions posted earlier, but if you're looking for a guilty pleasure show, don't forget about Spartacus!
Wild India
Damn just watched the first episode of Wentworth/Wentworth Prison damn I'm hooked awesome so far :)
LOST.
Arrested development and Dexter.
