The self appointed social media coaching guru lost his biggest name client. Don't worry the other few good ones will leave son too
Bullsh*t.. If it were working so well, why would he stop coaching himself!? Wouldn't have to pay a coach either come on dude u don't know squat about running

That 2 year period from 2010 to 2012 was the only time he was self coached, and ran 3 good marathons. Once he trained under Canova, Magness, Daniels, and a few others he never raced well again. His self coached period was quite good by comparison.

This. There are exceptions, but world class running careers don't last much longer than 4-5 years. This is even more true for the Marathon. Look at Kannouchi, Lel, G. Mutai, probably Kebede now, maybe also Kipsang now?.
Frank Shorter said you really only have 3-4 great marathons in you body. Hall used definitely had his, plus another 3-4 really good ones. You can only go to the well so many times.
Isn't Salazar the perfect example of what Ryan could become? Salazar ran himself into the ground and eventually became an amazing coach. Hall has a lot of knowledge..

Magness has made himself persona non grata with his whistleblowing for sure. Athletes want the best coach, but sponsors are required in the first place.
Magness' time will come. He doesn't play by the rules, and has no respect for the "we've always done it like this" attitude that is so commonplace in athletics. That rubs many the wrong way.

Jesus, what the hell do you know about pro running?
Do you really think Asics wouldn't want Hall with Magness becaus he's a whistle-blower? All the non-Nike shoe companies love it.

Of course they love it. Does that mean they are eager to hire Magness? They need to make sure there are no skeletons in their basement first.
Also Magness is an outspoken critic of the IAAF. Every sane person who wants to do business that is vaguely related to anything IAAF needs to hedge their bets.
But if the current IAAF regime goes down, he will sure look good. "If", not "when".
Chill?

SALAZAR HAS. UNDERACHIEVED IN THE MARATHON. This man has been the most successful coach in the world in the 5k-10k and consistently gets it handed to him by local talent in the marathon.

Magness top athlete probably isn't Sara, but the 1:44 man, Mark English. According to his website, he's also coaching a few other good athletes: Neely Spence Gracey, Natosha Rogers, Lea Wallace, Melissa Salerno, and a handful of others
The problem I think most see with Magness' coaching of elites is that if you are an elite runner and go with him as your coach you are 3rd or 4th position at best on his priority list which includes:
1. His full time and time consuming job as Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach at University of Houston
2. His career as a blogger and writer - prolific writer and researcher
3. His fight against doping, corruption and all things Nike and IAAF. Which seems like a full time jog for him most of the time and can put he and his athletes on the shit list of powerful people in the sport
4. The elite and sub-elite athletes he coaches on the side for free. Is being 4th on his priority list the real reason he doesn't charge them for coaching?
Most people who run professionally or want to attain the professional level don't want to be #4 on their coach's priority list and something they do for fun on the side. Talk about a guy stretched thin. Good guy and smart guy but trying to do too much at once.
Now didn't he coach Ritz to the second fastest American born time ever?

Those who can, do. Those who cannot, coach.
We know Ryan didn't take testosterone injections, so we can be sure he is not giving Sara any either. Just sayin'.

How do we know this? Please enlighten us.
He also took that same athlete to an alternate position at the Olympic Trials when Brad Hudson not only had him on the team but also had him finish top 10 at the games 4 years earlier.
I think it would be cool if Sara Hall was coached by Ryan Hall, and Ryan Hall was coached by Sara Hall. They both have a lot of success and experience with running. They could also save a nice chunk of money on coaching fees.

That's a nce arrangement, but now I feel left out. Who am I going to coach?
You can coach Buddha. Buddha can coach Allah. Allah can coach you.
Good points, but I'd rather be #4 on Magness list, than #1 on Ryan Hall's (strictly coaching).
