So I've read that the athletes at the Oregon Project are told to get 10-12 hours of sleep a night. Here's the link in case anyone's curious:

What I'm wondering is: how are they able to sleep that much night after night? The only time I've done anything like that (besides when I was an infant) was last winter after being totally exhausted from the semester I had just finished. Even then, that only lasted about a week.
So I'm wondering how they are able to sleep 10-12 hours a night and still be tired enough to sleep that much again the next night. Is it just the volume and intensity of the work they're putting in? Because that's honestly the only thing I can think of.
