The weather right now sucks for fast times in Central Florida at least--quite the shock to the system to come back here to run this morning after a week up in New England even in relatively warm weather there (mostly 30s-50s), but I hear that it's going to cool down by New Year's Day.
weather is warm now, but powerful cool front moving in this weekend. The forecast HIGH for the day in Jacksonville Sunday is only 58. And it will be overcast and breezy, so it will feel even cooler.

I can't think of anyone less likely to use them than Kevin.

I'm tired of these elites failing to do the base research. Its not like the information is not known on what's a qualifying course and what is not. he failed to do the research and now blames everyone else. he takes none of it. It's ironic he calls the USATF unprofessional. He is too.
I didn't know he was a dealer...I hope he doesn't make because of that. No telling how many lives he's ruined.
First of all the unprofessional is that USATF listed him as a qualifier and then had to backtrack.
As far as the course it does fall on the athlete to know. I will say Competitior group did not help on this one as the San Diego course is really close, I think it drops less than 10m to far, and they don't list the net elevation change or didn't the past year and maybe going back further. Most in So Cal are aware its not legal but for the rest of the country they may not know. I know he's not the first to try to run that race as a qualifier and run into issues. I had to go on google earth and check elevation that way to verify the drop was to great, plus usatf may have a list that excludes it as a qualifier.

You don't sound like much of a Christian. Do you consider yourself to be one?

No.
Clearly, you believe the makers of OxyContin, Vicodin and the like should rot in hell, because nobody profits from drug dealing like big pharma.
There are very few people lower than drug dealers. This guy knowingly helped people mess their lives up. If masters athletes from other parts of the country wanting to compete in the half marathon championships just used the USATF site for the race as their reference, which many surely did, they would have no indication that the San Diego course could not be used for trials qualifying. None. It's an easy enough problem USATF could have avoided, and hopefully they've learned something.
Castlille qualified today with 1:04:33. Good for him.
This short article about Kevin Castille has inspired me. An amazing race time at his age. I'm inspired to run a pr this year.

Frickin fantastic. Well done!
he sold drugs. He might or might not be a cheat but he ruinded lives. Also meb is way faster then him. They are many over 40 runners that can beat him.So enough said and if he is a drug cheat he us a pos.The master record for the marathon is faster then his 1/2 pace.So he is a pos that sells drugs to kids.

Not, not many masters can beat him.
And selling drugs doesn't ruin lives. Using them does.
Or do you blame Smith and Wesson (or GM?) for ruining lives? Much deadlier products.

Did he sell you drugs, or is that how you naturally write?
I heard a rumour kevin ran the jax half as a tempo run and let off the gas the entire distance running just fast enough to get the standard. Watch out for kevin castille at the trials. He's the one to beat!
Hi Kevin. HOW is the drug sales??

that said, the mix-up for notifying qualifiers who in fact had not qualified is definitely unprofessional.
...
Not only receiving the notification letter saying he'd qualified when he hadn't, but especially this:
"Castille said he was never notified by USATF that he was not a trials qualifier."
That could piss me off as well. I can understand a mistake in sending the letter out. But once the mistake was realized, professionals would make damn sure they went out of their way to apologize to each individual affected by their mistake, either in writing or with a phone call. Not very respectful to neglect notifying him of their mistake.

And then I see that Colleen DeReuck has qualified for the OT's at 51!
Has anyone else noticed how guys from the hood sometimes just don't age? I'm not talking skin color here, I'm talking guys who grew up in super urban, super rough environments.
I trained with two separate Kung Fu guys in their 40s in 2014. One was a 43 Italian-American dude from Dorchester, Ma. The other was a 47-year-old African American dude from Harlem, NY. I couldn't believe how athletic they were.
I wonder if there's anything to this. 100% serious.
