10K in Madrid. Hard not to pick Jager in this one.

Lol
There's no gold medal involved, so there's no guarantee that Kemboi will win. Sorry to see Mike Kigen running for Turkey, which radically elevates the chances of him doping.
Turkey is an extremely shady country but I don't think it'll increase his doping chances. Kenya completely ignores the problem while Turkey turns them in.
Jager runs 28:01 to win.
Kind of weird for jager to fly all the way to Europe to do a 10k road race, isn't it?

His girlfriend is from Europe and they have been over there together.
Makes sense. Still, Spain is s long way away from Sweden as well. Look for 29.30 out of jager.

Are you serious? If he's within 100 meters of Jager with 1k to go, Kemboi murders him.

If both wanted it equally, Kemboi destroys Jager.
Although, as we have seen from Kemboi time after time after time, if there is no gold medal for the winner, there is not going to be a 100% effort from him.

Yeah cause no one uses drugs in the USA.
Here is a free stream from spain http://www.thewangconnection.com/ver-san-silvestre-vallecana-en-directo-streaming/
Mike Kigen won in 27:34, followed by Jager in 28:54. Didn´t see Kemboi...
Jager lost by 80 seconds? Yikes.
How many elite distance runners in the U.S. have tested positive vs. Turkish runners? On the maps of doping countries, Turkey figures large. And Abeylegesse was caught only after years of running in Turkey. Who knows whether she was doing it before?

Have you ever raced?
Not going or a PR and seeing he was unable to stay with the leader, why wouldn't Jager just do enough to keep 2nd?
As his coach, would you have preferred him to have finished 15 seconds behind Kigen and completely exhausted or 80 seconds behind and ready to train hard again one or two days later?
Reminder: This sport is entertainment. Just like football or baseball.
So, yes, I would prefer to see 1 of the USA's top 2 runners not get blown out. Why fly to Madrid for a tempo? Seems silly. Pointless. Waste of time.

I totally agree with you about the entertainment side of it but when it comes to the athlete...
He went to Madrid to try and win the race. He saw he couldn't do it, he did the second best thing - finish 2nd.
From what I saw, he ran very comfortably. The winner attacked from the start, Jager emerged just in the end, looking very relaxed.

Uuummm... maybe there was an appearance fee involved? As a professional, apparently already in Europe, being paid to run (I' m guessing at least $5000), I think the answer is actually pretty obvious.
