Ah but I do, and you know it too.
Tell me how I trained then. And then tell me why I improved.

You ran 30 miles a week. You took 6 years off. It shouldn't take too long to get back to that undertrained form, especially at 800 with a few simple speed workouts.
Now if you were a very good, aerobically developed 5k runner taking 6 years off, it would take much longer to come back. But you undertrained and therefore sucked, so it was much easier to make a comeback. See how it works differently for shitty runners vs. good ones? That's the difference you're missing.

But you've never done this so you don't know. Ain't it cool?

What have I never done?
Most of us will never be elite, but the uncomfortable truth for you is you probably could have been better than you were. And you are likely now at the old enough age where you are realizing your PBs are set in stone. Maybe you should spend less time on LetsRun and more with your kids, or whatever it is old people do.

You've never been elite. You never will be. You've never taken years off and then jumped in a race and done a PB.
You don't have kids.
Now tell me, ain't that cool?

You know what governs that? Genetics.

But wait, aren't you a genetics denier?
No. Genetics determines one's basic speed. How hard one works has nothing to do with genetics.

So you think Bolt should go for the Marathon soon?
Why should Bolt go for the marathon? He makes more money in running 100/200 than running two marathons a year.
Basically, every runner competes in the shortest distance possible. Those who don't have enough speed in any distance move to the next distance. The only exception is when more money is available in the longer distance.

Just checking to see if you think he could if he just upped his miles and worked hard.
1. how much hair you have on your chest
2. how relaxed you are during races
3. how big your balls are

1 and 2 are genetic.

Bolt doesn't have the desire to succeed as a distance runner. And he probably doesn't believe he can be great in long distance.

I'm going to give you a 0/10 for that. A generous 0.

And I will give you -1/10 for failing to understand a simple logic. Have a nice day,

Perhaps you meant simpleton logic? If so. I'll give you a .5/10
Don't get all excited! There is a decimal in front of the five!
