Fine, it's one of the fastest courses in the country. you happy now? fact is, I've run 64xx, 65xx, and 66xx on that course, and run 63xx elsewhere. it's absolutely 30-45s slower than THE fastest course(s) in the country.
if it makes you happy, call it ONE OF the fastest, but it's still always going to be slower than THE fastest, period.

that explains a lot.
far from it, but thanks. if Drugstore ISN'T a phony, then he's either cabada or dobson- and I doubt either one would post here, so that's funny. I think i dnf'd that day that they both ran 62xx, that was impressive by dobson, guy had talent.as far as "no one said it was the fastest", well actually a lot of posters (or the same under diff names) keep claiming that it's essentially flat and that no time diff should be considered to other "flat" courses. that's bullhonky, you know, anyone who's run the course knows it, and anyone who's run a truly flat course knows it as well. it's a stupid pissing contest, but I'm not the one who's delusional, neither did I start said contest, just getting you riled up by stating some facts.fyi, my pb is nearly 4min slower than ryan hall's, so I sure hope nobody's impressed, I'm sure as hell not.

Yeah, you tell the poster that as if not my real name is any better. Your pr is nowhere near Ryan's, not even close. You just have your panties in a bunch because you can't get a bunch of posters on a forum to agree with you and your embarrassing claims and this obviously upsets you. I see this on threads all the time here, for years now. Go back to your basement or go out and actually run, maybe you can win a local 5k.
I find this funny as well. Hodge, George, Meyer, Virgin, Beardsley, etc...are all better than you profess to be, but they use a real name in their handle or their post. Heck, the Hanson brothers post under Hanson as well. But you are soooooo good that you can't post your real name & insinuate how good you are. What a lying loser. Break 3 hours & then come talk to us.
I find this funny because Kevin Hanson is probably posting on this thread.
Gotta build up Desi before the trials, huh?

As far as the 0.2% grade calculation of 6.55 miles "up" and "down" goes? Well, that would be like saying let's smooth out Boston and make it this nice gradual downhill (since it's a net downhill race) the whole way. Of course it would be faster! Think of work/displacement/energy costs. Basic physics.
Do the downhills "make up" for all the uphills?... does a headwind get "canceled out" by a tailwind?....No!
Of course not. But it does give a more easy to visualize indicator of how much elevation change there is. Feet of elevation change is a better indicator, but not everyone understands what 20, 50, or 200 feet of change per mile is, hence the up/down statement.
Remember, I already said there is no doubt in my mind the course runs slower than a truly flat one like a Dubai/Berlin/etc. My argument is purely semantical/pedantic, but it seems almost any race that has elevation change gets called hilly. Hilly should be a distinction saved for when most of the course you are either running uphill or downhill, which generally will result in 50-100 feet/mile of elevation chance.
Hence it's not a slow course, period. Sage is being ridiculous at best. It's a road race, what was he looking for, a track! The guys who are fast are now the ones whining.

I saw a photo on twitter in October before I knew she was going to run Big Sur and I commented to a buddy of mine she hasn't looked this "marathon fit" in a while, and I think this result shows she has a chance for that third spot. If I were a betting man, I would place my money elsewhere, but this is certainly a big step in the right direction.
I'm positive that Kevin has better things to do with his time. For the record, both he and his brother Keith are really good guys who have done great things for the sport, in addition to Don, Bob, and a slew of others. D.P.

That's really creative of you calling other people the loser.
I've not been a fan of Kara, but am impressed with her run, and looking forward to see how she does in the trials.

I'm not sure where her odds would lie in a betting market, but if she's not in the top 3 for odds, she's absolutely a buy right now and she's also on the up-swing.
Maybe instead of a prediction contest that the BroJos usually do, that is how they should set it up. Have a round-table with a few contributors, establish odds for making the team for the top 10-20 competitors + an 'other,' and have us buy/sell at a given set of odds, and develop a scoring rubric that would be based on how much money each contestant 'won'
Ummm...dipsh*t, I believe that he was calling the poster a loser because of what HE posted. Are you really that stupid?

Yes. She may not make it this time, but unlike all of us posting here, she's made two olympic teams.
I looked at the elevation profile and did a calculation of how much slower this course should be compared to a flat course. (I'm kind of an expert in this sort of thing) My calculation shows between 30 and 35 seconds. Of course there are many other factors, but I only took elevation gain/loss into account.
No one is disputing that. It's about this February, not anything else. What's your wise point oh great one? Please, enlighten us with your supreme knowledge asap:)
