Is it possible to cut a 18:30 to a 17 flat in a year my PRs are 5:21 in the mile (split in xc) I don't run the mile in track. 2:10 in the 800. My two mile pr is 11:17 it's my two mile split in XC

Dumb question. Of course it is possible and many have done a similar progression. Is it expected? Maybe not, but certainly possible.
Yes. That's actually really close to what I'm trying to do. Run high mileage and do tempos/long intervals twice a week over the summer after track. You have plenty of speed based on your 800, but your slow third mile in XC indicates you need more endurance.
And work on your subject line. I almost didn't click on this thread because it definitely looked like spam. Something like "How can I drop 90 seconds off my 5k?" would have been better.
For the record, I only came here because of the awesome thread title.
If you've PRed by 90 seconds in previous years, or are going to work way harder, or lost a lot of weight, of course. If you're going to do the same thing, probably not.
Wait? Now your giving advice?? Oh my.OP just run baby. Safely building your mileage and listening to your coach is the best thing you can do right now tbh.
