Anybody with experiences as a kid at AAU nats they'd like to share? Worth it to take my kids? (They won't win.)

I ran it last year while it was at Rim Rock. It was fun and there wasn't a ton of really good competitition in the older age groups so i was fairly competitive.
I won the Northern indoor nationals a few years back in the 800 and 3k for intermediate division. I have to say, I should have focused on my outdoor season. I ran myself into the ground racing a lot and trying to get into shape for indoor nationals, especially at that age.
As for the actual experience, I really enjoyed it. However, the times I ran to win were pathetic. It's not very competitive at all and kind of feel ashamed to call myself a "national champion".
One cool thing is every year a very well known track star is there to put medals around the necks of contestants. I remember Maurice Green and Michael Johnson the years I went. Maurice was kind of a jerk, but Michael was really cool.
