Correct. It was nice when no one knew who jon was as they wouldn't avoid him like they avoid weldon and me. I guess his cover was blown when he introduced himself as being from LRC.
Here's a crazy idea: why don't you stop doing things that make people want to avoid you? If you need an undercover guy then you're doing something wrong.

Why would they want to be Ken Goe v2?

True. We also know: Cheaters never prosper!
Except when they do.
Which is quite often.

Either way, they get a story

So your guy is the Stuttering John of running "journalism."

LOL here's a crazy idea, why doesn't the NOP stop doing things they don't want to answer questions about?

I can't believe any pro runners talk to you guys.

It's an exaggeration to say that 80% of what is said on these boards ends up being true. And yet the damage is done.
The entire sort is dysfunctional, no less so than this board with it's self stroking owners.

Is "asking the tough questions" anything like a journalistic ambush?
It's about facing one's critics. Something that seems to be happening less and less amongst the rich and famous these days. For example, it's been almost 3 years and Suzie Favor Hamilton has yet to be asked any critical questions. That is except for maybe the one radio interviewer in Milwaukee whom she promptly hung up on in a huff without answering the question.
She has the right to refuse to talk to any media outlet. Just like this site and its posters have the right to comment on and draw conclusions from her refusal.
From what she did say in the interview it appears that she has gone back to the sort of training that made her successful in the first place; basically running with only a bit of "other stuff" thrown in. And if she is happier living at home rather than in Portland this can only have a beneficial effect on her running. Over here in the UK lots of promising runners move to one of the "centres of excellence" to live and train only to find out that it doesn't work; their performances go backwards. When they return to their home environment/coach they make progress. If it works - don't change it!

Ok I'll just stop asking drug related questions. Thanks for the memo. And I'll shut down the messageboard. I'll talk to our tech guy at our weekly conference call at noon and see how long it will take for him to pull the plub on the board.
It's 8:47 now. I imagine he'll have this baby shut down by 12:15 so there are less than 3.5 hours to post.
Can you shut all the ads and auto playing videos down too?
To the supposed journalism experts who love to hear themselves rant, you're either ignoring one of the most basic rules of good probing journalism, or you never learned it in the first place.
To paraphrase: If you need an undercover guy, it means you're doing something right.
Or to put it another way: If you want to just write nice supportive things about an organization, go to work in their PR department.
Pull the plub, robert? Oh know!!
Take a step back. This thread makes you look really insecure and sad. Lay off the boards for a while, dude..

^^^^^THIS^^^^^
These irritate people far more than the ads, which, I get, support the site etc.
But why aggravate the users by forcing us to watch the same race over and over and over? What is the point? Just put an ad there. Preferably non video in nature.

I've noticed quite a few "typos" on letsrun articles that confuse homonyms.
Or alcoholic
Asking drug questions on every single occasion is unhelpful. Why don't you do your own investigative reporting like real news outlets if you want to uncover something real? You're just not going to get confessions or gotcha moments with those interviews. Definitely ask a question right after a scandal erupts, but not every single time. Cain was obviously not doping with Salazar and not privy to any drug information at her age or with the time she spent there, so what exactly is gained by that?
Cain's obviously feeling a lot better by moving back to New York, getting Henwood's different style of coaching, and getting some distance from Al's hyper-intensity. I'm hopeful that she'll run well next year.

What did Kara lie about? She said people were threatened at the meet and then we found the police report came out - your welcome.
She initially said she would talk more about her time at NOP and why she left (Salazar said she didn't leave due to the allegations but due to his displeasure with Adam's behavior) but then came out later and said she would have no more coment on the matter publciy - she'd only be talking to WADA.
It was months ago so maybe there is a lie I'm forgetting about.
Now I think YOU'RE doing it on purpose. Or did you welcome him with the police report?
Also, it's "comment" and "publicly."
why would anyone care what Mary Cain says?
I only care how she runs. Do you really expect anything interesting from kids that age? Especially those controlled by her 'betters'?
LR.. keep on doing it. Who else is going to call out the cheats or ask the real questions. I read, or tried to read the Cain RRW "interview". I thought I was reading NOP PR campaign material. I don't expect to read any real interviews or analysis of track & field athletes ANYWHERE else but LR. The IAAF reporters will not and can not ask questions about drugs moreover Runners World and all the others seem to be in a fog when it comes to real sports journalism. So thank you brothers Rojo and Hojo...I remember what it was like years, decades before LR. LR is great...and you trolls know it..
I was standing in the same space as LR when the controversial Justin Gatlin interview took place in Eugene. Those questions needed to be asked. I could not do what LR did without risk (100%) of being fired but I am glad an independent news organization has the freedom to probe into the murky side of the sport.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
