Sorry guys I've been really busy with classes and training.
My mileage these last 3 weeks has gone: 61, 68, 73. My best workouts were 6x1000 at 3:02,3:04,3:04,3:01,3:03,2:55 with 1:30 rest. I also ran a 4 mile tempo in 21:17 feeling relaxed.
I'm feeling really strong and my hip hasn't been giving me much trouble. I'm planning to run a road 5k this Sunday, hopefully dip down to low-15s.
Also the coach has scheduled a date for the first walk on time trial, it's set for Dec. 5 and there will be some pacing help from the team.
Thanks all for believing in me and I'll try to keep this thread updated.
Time to update us again. Stop acting so busy and get to posting!
If this is for real, then that's a serious improvement - both those workouts are a substantial step forward from where you were earlier in this thread - well done! Looking forward to hearing how the race went. I'm going to guess 15:40 (with substantial room for improvement).
How did the race go?
Just saw this. Not a bad thread. I think most power 5 coaches would give a kid like this a shot, if he's not a troll in the first place. 14:40 standard seems steep to walk on. That's about a 9:05-9:10 2 miler. That wins most state meets. 10 years ago it got a heck of a scholarship at most power 5's.
"Full Disclosure" the poster sure makes a bold claim. More all Americans were around that ability (8:20-8:30 3K) as first semester freshman then not, I would argue. Personally, his hazing examples seem like a little childish. That crap comes back around.
OP done? If it didn't work out come back and let us know what happened. At least OWN it.
You are going to have to run your HS 1 mile PR pace for a 5k with only 8-10 weeks training... yeah not gonna happen. Don't lose hope though, because I knew this one guy who went from around a 4:25 1600 pr in HS to a 14:10 5000m (4:32 per 1600) by his junior year in college.
Going from 5x1 mile intervals in 5:36 in a workout to 3.1x mile nonstop at 4:40 pace is multiple tiers of difference. If that 5x1 mile workout was even remotely challenging for you, 14:40 5k is very far away.
Imagine doing 5x1 mile intervals in 6:36 and how easy that would feel. That is roughly similar to what 5x1 mile in 5:36 would feel like to someone who was in 14:40 shape.
Not saying it's impossible to run 14:40 in your lifetime, but very unlikely within the next year or two.
I'm also skeptical as to whether this is the OP, or someone else. If it's the OP and he ran those workouts, that really is a fantastic improvement. That would almost require we have the OP tested for PED's, in my opinion.

I completely agree with you...there is no way he could run that 1,000m repeat workout around 3min pace with only 90sec rest that quickly...A16:07 guy could NEVER run anywhere near that pace in only 5 weeks time... I don\\\'t know what\\\'s crazier about that workout, the pace, the short rest, or the total volume of repeats he claims to have completed.
yeah this isn't the OP, spelled differently and it's not registered.
He's repeatedly stated that it's not only 8-10 weeks of training, as he had been building a lot of base before hand, for a long time.
It doesn't matter it was just a troll anyway.
OP vanished. It's possible he was a troll all along, but probably more likely he just fell far short of his goal and more or less gave up
It hasn't been 8-10 weeks so how could he have fell short of his goal?
He's also done this in the past, as he is training twice a day, and a college student, he's probably busy, and has trouble getting on letsrun to reexplain himself a million times.

i found OP
OP = ImprobableDreamer
Troll = InprobableDreamer
Or both could be trolls.
I noticed that too, but didn't think much of it.

Many trolls prefer to adopt a variation of the username of the person they're trolling.
BUMP?

I tried but fell short. I went out running 72s but by lap 8 I couldn't hold it anymore and dropped down to 74's. I tried to make up for it with my kick but still ran a 14:44. I was hoping the coach would give me the benefit of the doubt but he didn't. Beer and pizza for me now.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
