Arafi looks like she'd be better at 1500.
Arzamasova wins. She had a 1:58.15 pb coming into the year but stepped it up and won the semi here in 1:57.54 and then the final.
POS BIB ATHLETE MARK DETAIL
1 154 Marina ARZAMASOVA BLR 1:58.03
2 204 Melissa BISHOP CAN 1:58.12
3 575 Eunice Jepkoech SUM KEN 1:58.18
4 600 Rababe ARAFI MAR 1:58.90
5 406 Shelayna OSKAN-CLARKE GBR 1:58.99
6 832 Nataliia LUPU UKR 1:58.99
7 669 Joanna JÓZWIK POL 1:59.09
8 377 Renelle LAMOTE FRA 1:59.70
I'm sure many will see and Easstern European winner and assume the worse but there were plenty of women running big PBs in this won. Canada's Bishop went from 1:59.52 to 1:57.52 in this meet.
The order of finish was very similar to the semi. The top3 were the medallists tonight.
I thought Sum's first 200 was still too fast. But i like the strategy of backin way off on the 2nd 200 like Rudisha.
27.13 at 200 then 59.08 at the bell.
The problem is she got in a dual with Arzamasova for the lead between 500 and 600. Maybe let her take it and try to get her at the end (Of course that battle was eaually as taxing on the winner).

As if anything will happen before then
Men's 5k!
I see no way for them to beat Mo. I don't know how I felt about Mo facing a race like the one that played out in the 10k last weekend before it happened, but 20/20 hindsight suggests he will find a way.
I think anything is possible, but most of my money is Mo Farah.
If True can keep his head and stay positioned, he may be able to snag a medal, but I think top 5 for him and Galen and Ryan somewhere near behind that.

i think this is a virus. it crashed my Edge browser and said its infected with spyware.
Here is an ashton Eaton update:
After nine events, he is sitting at 8216, which 823 off his world record. He needs to run a 4:18.25 or lower to break his world record. I hope he will go it and the other athletes will help with pacing.
Where is Curtis Beach when you need him???
up early and waiting for coffee to kick in. I think the first 2k is slow/steady and the remainder of 5 is fast, nothing to lose for any of them

I don't know if you're joking but I have been watching it all week with no problems. Sorry, man.

Just what Dr. Mo ordered.
OMG. Farah ran out into lane 8 to get water. WTF????
Mo popped up to a kiosk in the stands for a drink
Mo showboating - running to lane 8 to get water!
I saw that too... Wtf? Gotta stay hydrated while the pace is light eh?
73.54 farrell leading, farah in last. true rupp 2-3
