Hello everyone, I am making this thread to read about how your summer's training has gone. I am starting school on Tuesday, and will not be running Monday due to an easy week, so I only have 1 more run to finish my summer training and it's a long run tomorrow.
Please list the volume you were running, the overall paces you were running, some key workouts you did, and your overall feel for your summer training and whether or not you're happy w/ it.
Okay, so my summer started w/ a week that was 26.4 miles, then 35.4, 42.2, 50.04, 35.18 (easy week), 48, 57, and this week should be 60 assuming I run all 9 miles tomorrow. I usually did my easy runs at the beginning of the summer around 7:20-30 pace, but as I have expanded myself aerobically and muscularly I am now running around 6:50-7:10. I did one tempo run at 5:54 pace, and another at 6:01 pace so my tempo pace was around 5:55-6:00, I did some speed workouts that I ran around my current estimated 3200 race pace (10:40), and I did my recovery runs anywhere from 7:30-8:15 pace. Some key workouts I got in were a 15 minute tempo at 5:54 pace, a 3.1 mile tempo in trainers on bad surfaces at 6:01 pace, a 5 mile easy run at 6:48 pace, and a 9 mile long run at 7:07 pace. I would have to say I am very pleased w/ how my summer has gone, that I am very grateful that I made it out injury free, and really have been enjoying the process of developing as time goes on. This is by far my most consistent summer, and I only had one week where I wasn't happy w/ how things went and that is when I ran 48 miles with a terrible stomach bug. I really hope you guys had some awesome summers and that your training was very exciting and that you're pleased w/ how it went.
Please explain your summer, as I love hearing how you guys are doing and what your overall feel is for your training.
