Mods I don't know if you have beef with FloTrack, but I got to say, their documentary on Obea is excellent and I hope you'll let this thread stand.
He was the most exciting HS athlete I've ever watched, which should say a lot coming from a distance runner. Seeing him his sophomore year at Cerritos was unforgettable. There was nothing like that. I remember Stember being fun to watch at Arcadia, and Meb, who ran at my HS's Invitational was shocking how much he won by. But nothing compared to the elecricity of Obea when he had the baton.
I remember watching Meb, who was a senior when I was a freshman, and it was hard to understand how he could run so fast. Obea, though, that was different. He was beyond comprehension. I literally was not able to imagine what it would feel like to do what he could to do.
I almost cried watching that documentary. I really feel for the guy. To be so close to the top, and for it to slip through his fingers like that. I don't even know what to say. It makes me so sad. Great documentary by Flotrack. Most of their stuff is amateur, but this is solid.
I know it's too late for Obea to ever to do something special, but part of me feels like he'll have a kid who does what he never was quite able to accomplish, hopefully.
