He runs for New Zealand.
He runs for New Zealand.
He's the fastest white guy around right now.
Why does your grammar suck? Americans*
He attended the University of Michigan and trains here. He is a standup guy. He frequently races in the U.S. And he is a sub 3:30 guy.
Yo Nick Willis is the GOAT. That's why!

Watch the interview after his first sub 3:30 and tell me you aren't a fan.
I also love Kipketer. Fandom can cross boundaries.
he's just a good dude.

The reason so many like Nick Willis is because he is great sportsman with a good personality on top of his being talented. Some people can see a great competitor despite not being connected to the geographic area with imaginary borders of the beholder.
He runs for New Zealand but he went to college at University of Michigan, lives and trains in America, and married an American.
What's not to love? Olympic silver medal, pair of 3:29s, been around for a long time, watched him while he was in the NCAA, Kiwis are very likable, gives good interviews, he's been putting on a great meet of his own the last couple summers, etc, etc.
He's white and fast and still performing well at an age older than most of us losers. Simple as that.

+1
Watch any of his interviews or talk to him in person if you're lucky enough. He's just a stand-up guy.
I'm an American and Ben True is probably my favorite American distance runner competing (at the top level) right now. But in the 5000 at the adidas GP I was still rooting for Willis over True. And I'm a big fan of True. Willis is just that awesome.

He is critical of NOP, especially Rupp.
Anti-NOP = a hero on LRC.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
