Gun's up, then gun's down.During the reset, everyone's singlets were blowing in the wind.
Big field, too big imho.
Geoghegan in 3rd behind one rabbit. Through 409m in 59 flat
Rabbit drops, Geoghegan in 2nd with 10m on Zebrowski.
2:00 at the bell. Field is 15m behind
Merber leading the 2nd group, but not chasing.
Hits the bell in 3:58. Merber still ahead of the 2nd group, hasn't made up any ground. Pack is sprinting now
Merber holds 2nd going into the stretch, while Geoghan goes 3:56 according to the on-screen clock, but 3:59 by the commentators. Masters gets by Merber to get 2nd.
3:59.09 on the on-track clock
that was embarrasing. geohegan the only one to follow the rabbits, gets a 20m lead at least by the bell lap. he ran about 3:58, nobody else stood a chance. good for will
merber led the chase pack but that doesn't make up for letting a sub-4 guy get a 20+ meter gap on you
Two Mainers 1 and two in a race across the pond - how sweet is that!!!

Abbey ran 8:51 indoors in 2014. 9:14 would be slower than what she splits in a 5000.
Fine - correction - it's a new OUTDOORS PR.

I love Merber - he's great on twitter - but this was disappointing for hiim in my mind. THis would have been a wonderful opportunity for him to try something new - like not going out way back in the back. Get right up there with the rabbit and see what happens.
I always thought Alan Webb was used to being so dominant in HS that it was hard for him to run in a pack. I felt he should have some lowkey indoor tactical races just to work on it. Here in a lowkey windy meet, why not practice just not getting out below the midway part of the pack? You know you aren't going to run fast.
The race was over basicalliy at 809.
Will G put his balls out there and was rewarded.
and thats kampf with the win in 2:03
lauren wallace in 2nd, good kick, but just could not catch kampf, I can't help but feel like her 1k win was a fluke, although 1k is longer.
I feel like she should move up to the 1500, she doesn't have the speed necessary

Anyone get the idea that Mary Cain has been uncomfortable to settle into a pack and race? She has been leading races, and then getting blown away at the end. Why the refusal to be race savvy?
But why not do what she did, at least in this low-level meet? Nothing much going on for the remainder of this year for Cain in any case. She got a decent (for her, this year) time, but had to do a lot of the leading on a windy day to get there. I tend to see her performance today as bold, perhaps even brave.

Is this a troll-attempt play on the bravery talk about Jager?
"The reason they're falling off is because the main ones are running so damn fast"
Dear US commentators, take notes.
Ford Palmer's form looked horrible the entire race. One of his arms was moving in a weird circular motion while the other didn't move very much at all.
Can't really explain just how bad the weather was for this meet, cold and very, very windy. 7.51 was a great run in the 3k in those conditions. It's a shame as the weather was really nice last week (well, nice for Ireland!).
Did anyone else watch the little kids running at the beginning of the meet? Those were some of the best races of the day -- a few were blowouts, and a few were pretty close. One kid leaned so far at the finish he ended up tumbling through the line. Just like the big kids!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
