I'm surprised Mead is the only American. Jager might want to take a shot at breaking 13 right now. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that he might have a shot at the American record in the 5000m right now. That's Lagat's 12:53. Solinsky ran 12:55 and 12:56 from the same group (Schumacher's). He has run low 13 in prior years, but he is way beyond that right now with 3:32.97 and 8 flat falling--probably 7:55-57 otherwise (Birech was about 2 seconds back prior to the fall and ran 7:58). The former Stephen Cherono, a low 7:50s guy, ran an electric 12:48 or so beating El G, I think, with a very quick last lap.
I believe Jager is going back to the states for base/altitude training to prep for worlds.
12:55 or so winning time. Watch Gebrehiwet (sp?)
No runner on the circuit is capable of
sub-12:50 as was commonplace a decade ago. Talent has moved to the roads (Kimetto obviously a potential 12:45 guy).
I hope Ndiku wins so I can see his amusing antics. Better than Kemboi and way better than Farah's stupid mickey mouse gesture.
Prediction...Caleb The Lion Ndiku will SLAY Mo Farah!!
If Caleb Indiku is fully back from injury and in shape, I think it will be him against the tough 15 yr old Ethiopian, Yomif Kejelcha. I just don't know how the young Ethiopian will handle a last 1K of 2'21" - 2'23".

Why are you so bitter?
I am surprised
1. Galen Rupp is not racing.
And I am even more surprised
2. Ben True is not running as he has to go through the formality of running under 13:23 and he has been running very good, this may be a good chance for him to join the sub 13 club.
Anyone have the inside scoop why they are not running?

maybe they're doing the 3000m in Monaco?
also, true and rupp just ran a 5000 and a 10000 at nationals within a few days. gotta rest up after that, not worth risking injury.
actually, provisional entries are out.

No farah? Looks like he's wimped out again? Or perhaps some rumored news is finally on the edge of breaking?
Farah vs Vernon lol
The Ethiopians will test their formula the one they will implement in China against Farah

Too close to US Nationals for full recovery from the double. Heusden was also when Hill got his time for the Worlds 5k in 2013 after nationals.

Slower times probably indicate cleaner sport. Sub-12:50 was commonplace with EPO and blood transfusions, not because the talent was that much better.
Cheserek is racing?

This made me laugh. Kimetto is definitely NOT a potential 12:45 guy; he excels at the marathon for the same reason that he would not excel as much at the 5000m: he has too many slow-twitch muscle-fibers. It amazes me that people think that just because a guy is fast at one distance that he'll surely be fast at another distance.
