Magness calls Salazar's rebuttal "character assassination". All he did was say that Magness had a relationship with a female runner. That would be a badge of honor for most of the posters on this site.

It seems the Freud foot-soldiers are at a lose. They don't what to do at this point. They resort to hoping others will do their dirty-work for them. The Frued people don't have expertise to the required research for this type of activity: saving old-man Salazar.
Sorry, you lost me.
Rojo has indicated Letsrun is in contact with Steve Magness. Letsrun frequently questions athletes and coaches about possible drug cheating. How is getting to the truth dirty work?

Yes, I finished far ahead of you.

How's Jackie doing? You guys stogether or just FWB after the whole fiasco that got you fired?
Oh, and how much did the cocaine and marijuana bust cost your boss?
And, how much did it cost to tunnel further underground in the web after Frued got caught editing public websites to the advantage of their clients?

bkrunner wrote:+1 for this. I would love for the brojos to use their relationship with Magness to actually get us some info. There are parts of the Magness/Salazar back-and-forth that don't add up to me, and I definitely think we need more info if we're going to be convinced either way. So how about it, Rojo?
Yes Brojo's , you stated you were doing a "good job" on your journalism. Get some answers from your friend Magness. Did he lie during his proPublica interview.

It does appear the the Freud people are much worried now. Public opinion has not been sway one bit. Such an awful waste of the client's money.

The case against Lance Armstrong was nothing but accusations for 10 years. It took the power of the subpoena to get to truth on that. I fall on the where there's smoke there's fire side on this one with NOP.
Uhhh. No. Actually, the Feds dropped their case. USADA then started theirs with no assistance from the Feds. The Feds would NEVER share evidence with an NGO anyway.
But, yeah, like Armstrong, plumes of smoke pouring out of NOP. Some would argue that doesn't mean there's a fire, and then personally attack you for suggesting that.
Again, that is not to say Salazar will ever be sanctioned. It sounds to me he was running his doping program within the rules. And the IAAF's rules permit LOTS of doping to the point an actually clean athlete has few opportunities to podium.

This guy who keeps ranting about "the the Freud people" has been spamming this thread hard recently.
Rojo, if you're reading this:
1. Are you in regular contact with Magness?
2. If yes, do you have plans to interview him about the specifics of his accusations and Salazar's rebuttal?
Magness left out the part about his relationship with an athlete he was coaching. That is telling.
I'm generally anti-NOP though after reading this mess it seems like Salazar has the same attitude and Character as Lance but not Rupp.

Why is that relevant?
The emails indicate a mutual parting. Alberto says otherwise. Was there a non-relationship clause in the contract? Did the termination agreement say that the any such relationship must be disclosed when interviewed?
Salazar has had a relationship with Rupp for 13-years. Salazar should be whacked for spending nights before a meet with Rupp. Regardless of what went on behind closed doors, sharing a room constantly is a corporate no-no.

Telling in what way? It's red herring and nothing more.
Assume that Magness did have a relationship with an NOP athlete and that this can be roundly condemned as inappropriate, even though people will widely agree only on the first of these.
Let's assume further that Alberto actually used the dalliance as a reason to can Magness, even though there's nothing to suggest this and although Alberto's history suggests that as long as the results on the track were solid, he wouldn't have cared less about this arrangement.
Does in make sense to anyone out there that Magness would be sufficiently upset being let go for this reason (or any reason) to make up a bunch of garbage about Salazar that never actually took place? You can even assume Magness was complicit in any shenanigans that took place as they were happening, if that makes answering that question easier.
Anyone who believes Salazar's declaration that Magness is acting solely out of bitterness over losing his "dream job" is falling prey to the lies of someone who's not especially sophisticated at lying, merely committed to it and determined as hell. It's not like Magness wound up on the streets. He's got a D-1 coaching job at age, what, 30?
To clarify:
I think Magness is telling the truth about what he saw at NOP. I think he was professionally bullied by Salazar as well.
I also think Magness had a relationship with one of the athletes he was coaching and was let go. The way these things go is to part ways so it doesn't get ugly.
This is more like high school drama than a pro team.

Wrong on the relationship part. Magness want nothing to do with Salazar drug program. That is what really made Salazar angry. He was not the pliable sheep he demanded Magness to be.

Are you joking? He's in a subordinate/manager type situation. Never is it ok. It's also not like college where the person is graduating in a year. These are people's jobs. He's hired to coach people and keep it professional.
Yeah, I don't know or care whether Magness and Jackie's flames first started a-roaring when one or both were still with the NOP. But even if this was happening, it clearly wasn't a plausible reason for Alberto to can a guy whom he by then knew was not on board with assisting with a dirty program. If it had been, Alberto would have mentioned it in the exit interview. He only invoked this later.

Make no mistake, Salazar was the coach, not Magness.
Another hole in Steve's story. He claims he hooked up with Jackie after NOP and after they moved to Houston together. This is just so improbable. She wouldn't have moved to Houston with him unless they were already a couple. Plus there are NOP athletes that say he was doting on her constantly during NOP practice.
Steve Magness is just so full of it.
