I have Gay, Gatlin, Bracy, Bromell in the relay pool with Rogers as an alternate.

Yah Brommell is on fire. The relay will probably go:
Bracy - Gatlin - Gay - Bromell
Jamaica has no shot in the 4x1 this year. It'll be a real battle for that 3rd spot between Bracy and Rodgers. Seems like Gay and Brommell have their spots locked up if they don't false start.
As a side note if Bolt can't put down a 9.8x very soon he's in big, big trouble.
With Gatlin, 3 other Americans, DeGrasse, and Powell. Bolt may have a difficult time even making the final in the 100!
You might want to note that young Bracy has already beaten Rogers 3 times in recent times.

True, but Rodgers also has a faster SB. It'll be a good race.
It's all good... wrote:Drugs not withstanding, the potential to kick a lot of a$$ in China is there provided good health and test evasion tactics
nonsense
kid is 19y & looks like a 98 pound weakling
what the hell drugs has got him to 9.84 at 19y with the current physique of a runt ???
has anyone got link to kid's run as i hear reports he shut it down !!!
he says he "slowed it down" !!!
i found vid embedded here :
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/26/sport/trayvon-bromell-usain-bolt-athletics/index.html
he is worth 9.7-mid with proper start & no shutting down
Playing devil's advocate...but there have been many 17/18 year old athletes who have been busted for using drugs/PEDs.
Not saying Bromell is on drugs but you all remember Tim Montgomery was built like a runt also but he was on drugs.
aw, what happened to the short-shorts?
Hibiscus wrote:Playing devil's advocate...but there have been many 17/18 year old athletes who have been busted for using drugs/PEDs
none that i hear made big impact on lists

at least something of some sense
as for your example :
tim ran 9.96 non-ratified wjr because track 3.7cm short !!!
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=2847945he ran 9.78 "wr" at 27y when no longer runt
that was 8y after he already ran 9.96 to all intents/purposes
i doubt he was doping at 19y otherwise he shouda been into 9.6s by '02
someone kindly
youtube
his 9.84 from embedded
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/26/sport/trayvon-bromell-usain-bolt-athletics/index.html
give me shout when done
kid has made big impact
he has wjr at 9.97
however, i still think better reflection is best legal time at 19y, which precludes little as real outdoor track begins in may, sometimes april for college guys
the 19y AET wr for long time was
ogunkoya's 9.97 :
9.97 +1.5 Seun Ogunkoya NGR 28.12.77 1 Formia 13.07.1997
i can't remember who the previous guy was, but i'd be impressed at any stats guy who can dig up the all-time fastest list of 19y oles who weren't juniors !!!
anyhows, yohan broke this "wr" in '09 :
9.93 -0.2 Paris Saint-Denis 17 JUL
from :
http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/jamaica/yohan-blake-208640#progression
( albeit i need to look up that race result )
so kid has done huge !!!
Where is Gatlin?
he is diamond champ so gets bye to peking
he is running 200, which he hasn't done seriously for a decade !!!
if wind is just fractionally < 2, i do expect a
19.3+
All countries should bring their sprinters to Eugene. We would then have a sub-10 from practically every nation.

This is not an NCAA meet.
Huh? Of course it qualifies. He is an NCAA athlete. It does not have to be run at the NCAA meet or any other college-only meet. It is not an NCAA meet record. It is an NCAA record.
It seems like bromell comes up just a bit under par when he's put to the test. At world juniors, in the DL, at NCAAs, today with the bad start, etc. He's still going to worlds seeded at 9.84 having lost to andre de Grasse and Tyson gay.
Behind gatlin, gay, and de grasse he's the 4th best in the world right now slightly ahead of rodgers and Powell. Too bad bastion and bracy came up injured, they both looked really promising.

Too early to jump to that kind of conclusion. IF he was a pro and just running in a few races thus far, you could project that, and maybe a bit faster for de Grasse.
But NCAA guys have a HUGE racing schedule, including doubling multiple times. What often happens is that they have a HARD NCAA championship period, take off a couple weeks which serves as supercompensation, then have ONE amazing performance...and are done for the year.
I count 24 races for Bromell in NCAA outdoor, AFTER Bromell and de Grasse ran the #2 and #7 indoor 200 times ever run in NCAA indoors.
If Bromell can be in ~9.80 shape in Beijing, with Gay, Gatlin, and Rodgers, nobody is going to touch USA in the 4X100. But it's going to take some luck for him to be able to maintain. I hope they're smart enough to put Bailey in the relay pool despite the FS.
Crazy that the NCAA record is now what the WR was not too long ago. That's about as fast as the great Carl Lewis ever ran. Damn fast time by Grayson, although obviously Degrasse's time is worth slightly faster even without a wind, but I guess that's how records work.
On another note, can't they figure out a good way to incorporate winds into sprint records? For instance (and this is obviously theoretical), what if someone ran an 8.99 100M with only a 2.1+ wind. That's sad and kinda insane that they wouldn't get the record.
Did Trayvon run sub-10 in HS, or am I thinking of another guy? Huge talent, regardless. Third best current US sprinter outside of Gay and Gatlin?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
