I am a Division 3 cross country/track runner and have been putting in quite a bit of miles for the upcoming XC season. I was curious if anyone had advice on my current training plan, which is:
Sample:
Sunday - 17 miles
Monday - 10 miles
Tuesday - 12 miles
Wednesday - 17 miles
Thursday - 10 miles
Friday - 14 miles
Saturday - 12 miles
Obviously the mileage each day fluctuates but I tend to do two long runs (17 miles) per week which are usually on Sunday and Wednesday and then fill in the gaps with 10-15 mile days. I do all my mileage with one run a day (I don't feel like two-a-days are that beneficial). And most mileage paces are between 6:30-7:00.
I guess I am just curious if my training plan is effective. Should I be running less? Should I be throwing in a longer interval/tempo workout once a week? Should I be doing two-a-days? Should my long runs be longer? Should paces be faster/slower?
(Also I plan on peaking my mileage to 100-110 for three to four weeks this summer)
