Thanks for the video. Damn Jenny is really looking strong. I'm impressed with her varied tactics. Obviously we know she can win from the front but her last two races she came from behind with an excellent kick. She is in phenomenal shape and if she continues like this she has a great chance at being world champion. Has USA ever won gold in Women's 1500m at the Olympics?
Thanks for that video.......i refuse to read all NOP stuff....its to depressing
Olympics/Highest is both of Rowbury finishest...5th & 6th.....I think?
NP dude! No American has won an Olympic Gold in that event. I don't know if Rowbury's is the highest: an American medal has been a long time coming, and I think Jenny has a legit top 3 shot, if not taking it all.
NOP stuff is getting pretty WACK!

Good race, but she had a hard time holding the pace, and barely managed to get in the lead prior to the finish.
Ok "hardly blistering", I agree that it was partly lucky, but the tactic paid off, and her cadence looked amazing coming down the homestretch. She reeled in some fast women going in top gear, and having the guts and confidence to win w/ those tactics shows a really savvy and experienced racer. One that should prove great for US medal hopes.

Perhaps because Hassan and Seyaum boxed Jenny just before 400m to go.
Nice kick, looks like Hasan had nothing left in the tank.
Thanks for the video. Simpson had her plan altered several times by Muir (congratulations to her on running 4 flat), who first got in front of Simpson early on, so that Simpson couldn't push the pace immediately behind the pacers, and then formed part of the box on Simpson with around 200m to go. What really made it difficult was when the second pacer was trying to get off the track on the outside, with 500m to go, and Simpson had first position on the inside, but in the confusion Seyaum and Hassan went right outside the pacer and got in front of Simpson and formed the box. Simpson has great tactical instincts and aggressiveness when needed. She was patient in the box, despite space running out, and when she needed to move outside, with Muir still blocking her, she got a little bit of space and moved decisively to the outside ahead of Muir. From that point on, the last 100m, she looked much, much better than Seyaum and Hassan, who were both dying. Simpson did this from out of the box in a very short distance and got meters on them, and she did this right after Pre and with jet lag from flying from the west coast to Rome. From the way she looked and the time 3:59, I am convinced that she will break 3:57 this season if she gets the pacers and conditions and some rest. The margin was small in time but very large in quality (look at how tired Seyaum and Hassan looked at the end, definitely rigging).
You can tell that she has been training less for time and more for closing out a race since it is a championship year. Last year she was running strictly for time. She may well run a fast time this year, but I don't know that is her goal or what her training has been focused on. The one who scares me most to beat her this year is Aregawi if she is healthy as she was drilling people at the end of races early on last year.
Good recap. It shows how confident she is not to panic being boxed. Rather than waste energy, she patiently hugged the rail and waited for an opening after the turn. Perfect tactics.
I really want to see her get that AR.
The rabbits were almost dangerous, didn't know how to step aside off the track.
Jenny is smart, great timing, didn't panic when she got boxed, knows how to time kick. Her confidence in a race plan shows.
She had more in the tank. Lets first hear the anthem in Beijing this summer.
I am pretty sure we all can come to a general consensus here that Jenny is the best U.S. distance runner (using wins as criteria, not times) of this decade.
the interesting question to me is how Jenny trains now - she has 2.5 months til worlds and doesn't have to run well at USATF. But she seems to be in pretty much top shape already.
I bet she hasn't been killing it with speedwork since worlds are so far away - does she keep doing what she is doing...or try to improve her kick. So hard to know if you shoudl mess with what is working in training.

Oh come on! it was a blistering pace AND she certainly didn't have a hard time with the pace. Give me a break. She was biding her time. And, per usual, gave us what we have come to expect and admire.
Jenny puts her money where her mouth is and shows up and delivers.
Way to go and very impressive!
