Good god this website is stupid
No it is not a sandwich. Sandwiches the dough must not be cooked or toasted and they must be served cold. Burgers are also not sandwiches, neither are hotdogs or calzones

Interesting. So then a sub would be a sandwich until it's oven toasted? So they serve sandwiches at Jimmy John's but not at Quiznos. Subway sells sandwiches unless you answer yes when they ask if you'd like it toasted. Reubens, blt and Cuban sandwiches are not sandwiches either... Not sure I agree.
In the UK and Australia a sandwich can only be made with 2 sliced, flat pieces of bread.
A Worcester, MA court ruled that a sandwich must be wrapped in 2 pieces of bread and as a quesadilla is only one piece of bread it is not a sandwich.
Jewish deli hot open sandwich makers should sue.

If you drop a goldfish a couple times and it gets dirt on both sides, is it a sandwich?
This is great
So if you use one slice of bread and fold it in half is it not considered a sandwich then?

HOT PASTRAMI IS A SANDWICH!
A grilled cheese is a sandwich. Is a quesadilla that different?
Meriam Webster:
Full Definition of SANDWICH
1
a : two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between
b : one slice of bread covered with food
2
: something resembling a sandwich; especially : composite structural material consisting of layers often of high-strength facings bonded to a low strength central core

If you're using real bread it will split when you fold it.

A quesadilla is not made with a single tortilla.
It is made with two tortillas with cheese in between. (then cut in slices)
Like a grilled cheese sandwich.

And a grilled cheese sandwich is ...?
The poor "retard alert" guy needs a sense of humor. Firstly, this thread is hilarious. Secondly, no self respecting 'Merican would agree that a sandwich has to be cold. Not sure about other countries, I am ethnocentric.

I have never had a sandwich made with uncooked dough. It sounds disgusting.

Dude I am Mexican and we make quesedillas like that all the time.
Tortillas aren't slices of bread. Crackers aren't bread.
I don't get white people sometimes
Bread
noun
1. food made of flour, water, and yeast or another leavening agent, mixed together and baked.
"a loaf of bread"
A quesadilla shell does not contain a leavening agent and therefore cannot be considered bread. Therefore, a quesadilla is not a sandwich.

quesadillas go back to the 1500's when the Spaniards forgot to bring yeast to Mexico. If anything sandwiches are a type of quesadilla with fluffier bread.
The tortilla and the corn it was originally made of were invented by Native Americans. Only thing the Spanish brought was the queso.
Whether it's the Scots or the Spanish, the English LOVE finding ways to take credit others' inventions.
That's true. They even call their London police Scotland Yard.

And FWIW, yes, a quesadilla is a sandwich.
Have you ever seen a quesadilla on the sandwich section of a menu? No? GFY.
So, GFY is your response to someone who thinks a quesadilla is a sandwich.
Huh, what does your therapist think of this?

bahstonbeaner informed us of this court ruling
.In his ruling, Worcester Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Locke cited Webster's Third New International Dictionary definition of a sandwich and explained that the difference comes down to two slices of bread versus one tortilla, A sandwich is not commonly understood to include burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, which are typically made with a single tortilla and stuffed with a choice filling of meat, rice, and beans.

Time for a quesadilla and a corona!!!
BVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMK
Is anyone else amazed that this thread is just going on and on? And that people are legitimately arguing the facts that make a quesadilla not a sandwich?
How can anyone NOT love this website?!
