So, yes, you can shave it off if you like, but you can no longer rely on ignorance to get you through your journey. You know that real men have beards, and pu$$y betas have baby shaven faces.

I seriously doubt most (there may be some but not the majority) of people do it as a fall-back excuse to throw out when they have trouble finding work.

It's a trend, a fad. They happen. Remember the grunge kids of the 90s? I will say the trend is led mostly by the "counter-culture" indie scene, especially music, which deviates from the norm just enough to make people feel special without being so far out as to be socially exiled like the hippies of the late 60s / 70s. This is convenient for the predominant mindset of people now, where they want to half-commit to a cause so that as they sip the poison of conformity they can lie to themselves that they go against the grain. Thus, people try to emulate entertainment icons, and when every member of Fleet Foxes is sporting a beard, beards will start cropping up.

Besides, in my experience most women are attracted to beards (the facial hair kind).

I do think it does look silly to pair it with professional attire, but it also doesn't matter what I think because I'm not them or their boss.

I see morons walking around with this fashion and wonder how fragile they must be inside to have seen the tidal wave of this trend and consciously or otherwise decided that "I must be part of this movement. Curiously, I'm surprised I'm not taken seriously in this professional setting.

to the point: guys have beards for the following reasons: in an attempt to divert attention that they are bald or balding, to cover up that they're ugly, or they've given up and don't care about their appearance any more. Women have beards because: a. they're Greek or they are hormonally challenged, or both.
