Not sure what he was crying about. He broke 20 minutes.
How far was the race?

I think it might be 2.5 miles.

Wife left you yet?

Faster than I was at 11

Just checked this and it's true:
http://www.minimarathon.co.uk/en/about-mini-marathon/18:55 is actually pretty impressive in that case; it's on pace for a 19:35 5K. I guess athletic talent runs in the family.

So hot.
sounds like the kid is going to go far with that attitude, not being satisfied, unless the pressure gets to him. 18:55 3M at 11? pretty strong! But he's likely a soccer player, right?
If I remember correctly Beckham ran a few 800ms at school.

Really?
Says a guy typing on letsrun from his mom's basement.
Soccer is the world's most popular sport by far isn't it?
Only (possibly) surpassed by cricket. India is quite populous

Popularity is the measure of a sport's worthiness? Bullfighting (i.e., killing bulls for entertainment) is hugely popular in Spain. Does its popularity entice you to want to view? How about cockifighting in rural areas of the southern US. It too is hugely popular. You want to view cockfights too?

The world mainly consists of the US and maybe Canada, you should know that.
I thought 41,451 at Safeco Field last night was disappointing compared to almost 60,000 last season.

3mi in 18:55 equals roughly 19:45 for the 5k. Not bad for a 12 year old.

With out reading the article, assuming this was a 5K and the kid is pre H.S., sub-20 is actually pretty good.

Worthiness? What does that even mean? This post is remarkable for it's stupidity, even by LRC standards.
Soccer is the worlds most popular sport not just because it has the greatest number of people who watch it, but it also has the greatest number of people who participate in it.
You are allowed to not like watching soccer, or playing soccer. Everyone is allowed to have their own preferences - just because a few billion people enjoy something doesn't mean you have to. Just don't get into some inane belief that one sport is more "worthy" than another. Worthy of what? Sports are just entertainment, enjoy watching/playing what you like.
Easy there rojo, people typing from their Mom's basement are your major source of revenue !

I just have to acknowledge the awesomeness of the proprietor throwing out the "mom's basement" barb.
im a typical letsrun pessimist, but I think hes going to be pretty good.
Would bring fantastic exposure to the sport if so
His Mum is posh.
