Surely, this is the equivalent to a sub 3:50 miler running 3:55/6 in his first serious race of the season. You wouldn't say that the miler was all washed up and would never run sub 3:50 again; you would say that was not bad for a season's opener and the performance indicates that much faster times should come as the season progresses and training becomes less heavy and more geared towards quality/speed.
At times the lack of basic knowledge of the sport of some posters on this site is surprising!
