Is this a good result at this point of the season? The time seems slow to me, but I have almost no knowledge about sprinting.

A bit slow, although I'm sure that has to do with the lack of competition combined with his fitness just at this point in the season. Later we can expect to see sub 20 when he's got some faster competition and starts doing harder workouts.
He looked heavier...
That time would have been good for second place (barely) at NCAA indoors this year:

It's very early, but Bolt hasn't run that slow for 200 outside a qualifying heat in years. I have a feeling you'll see the real Usain in the NY Diamond League 100. Wait until then to make a decision.
(the guy you see smiling in the background is Justin Gatlin)
Thx for posting.
I don't know, the time is on the slow side, but on the other hand, it's april and he beat Nesta Carter quite convincingly. I take it as a good result. Of course - he's got to put the work in and stay injury free, get fit. Then I'm convinced we will see him back as number one.
Nesta Carter was worse.
I think it's the fact that they're both coming off a long break. Their fat percentage might be high too.
But yeah, I'm worried about them. Bolt always had a balance issue, it seams to get worst with time. I don't believe he can get back to his WR shape, until maybe he visits that German doctor.
and flent doesnt ... zing

100% irrelevant and non sequitur.
If you need me to explain it to you, you should probably just sign off of here.

"Irrelevant AND non sequitur"? Perhaps you should have someone explain to you what a non sequitur is. :)
That's a pathetic race for him, but it's still too early to draw any conclusions from. In conjunction with his recent 46+ 400m, it doesn't say good things about his current fitness level.

non se·qui·tur

a conclusion or statement that does not logically follow from the previous argument or statement.
wtfunny, your comment about NCAAs held no relevance, those are the best collegiates in the United States and are in the best shape of their season. Usain Bolt just ran his FIRST 200 of the year, he's nowhere near prime racing form. There's A LOT more to come from him as the season progresses.
On that note, fvck you for needing me to explain it to you. Take hiyas advice and sign off now.
He seemed a bit heavy but not labored in his running. He's likely still under heavy weight training this early in the season. Its not even mid April yet, so this is a decent opener. Speed training comes later in the season.
Italian article includes quote from Bolt (Google translate):
"His action, however, appears lackluster, a bit cumbersome, acceleration lacks panache."
Bolt: "I will study the video of the race to see if I moved errors - says shaking his head - however was certainly not a perfect race, I have to understand how to improve and find a bit of top speed. I have not felt comfortable as at other times, certainly I need to race a lot to find myself at the top. "
Article also mentions that Gatlin ran a 20.10 last night in Tampa with a 2.1 wind. Bolt's race was -0.2 wind.

Nesta Carter isn't a 200m specialist. He wasn't far off his PB (20.25) relative to Bolt (a second slower than his PB)

Sigh .. you poor thing.
The comment about NCAAs wasn't by me.
The point it makes is exactly the opposite of what you appear to think it makes.
If, and that's a big "if", that remark was a non sequitur .. then it's also irrelevant .. making the comment "irrelevant and non sequitur" redundant.
It's a decent result. Remember Bolt ran a 20.03 in July 2011 and popped a 19.4 at the WC a 7 weeks later.

I like it.
Basically, he is saying F&CK you, I'm gonna be as BUFF as I want to and you won't stop me.
He's a monster in a good way, with a superior PHYSIQUE, the CrossFit style training he and his coach have adopted since last season seems to work and guess what?
HE WON THE RACE.
1) Trayvon Bromell 20.19 INDOORS
2) Usain Bolt 20.20 OUTDOORS
That almost looked like a glorified stride from Bolt. I think he will run some really quick times once he gets into some meets with better competition. If he loses a bit of weight, he'll be untouchable.
20.20 looking easy.

Quite frankly, most of the post on thread are incorrect; all things considered, that was a pretty decent result...not great, but in early April, not being in top shape can be a good thing. The WCs are 3 months away. Btw, you can't compare Bolt's first race of the season to the NCAA, which has world class sprinters and in championship form. Also, you can compare Bolt's opener to other sprinters who need to run fast in early meets for the money.
Bolt's never going to come close to his record performances again, but I expect he will at least be in the mix when I really counts.
