I have been pulled over twice in 2015 - both times within a few hours of each other. I was on a long trip from Phoenix, AZ to Kansas City, MO. The first time was at 1am on the Interstate in New Mexico, and I had the cruise on 10 over, and I got a ticket for going 10 over. On one hand, going strictly by the speed limit (I think it was 75), yes I deserved the ticket...on the other hand, it was freaking 1am, I wasn't driving dangerously (unless you consider going 85 mph driving dangerously, which I guess you could say that's dangerous but oh well), no one was out, I think it was dumb that I got a ticket. I can't really be mad at the cop, because he was just doing his job, but he was not very pleasant with me about it.
The one about 12 hours later, I was going seven over on a US highway in Kansas (72 on a 65). He didn't give me a ticket, and he was very pleasant with me.
I complain about getting pulled over in these instances, but really, barring crazy/extraordinary circumstances, no one ever has a good excuse to excessively speed, so if we get pulled over for speeding without an actually good reason, we should suck it up and deal with it.
On the other hand...cops should always be pleasant with anyone they pull over, unless the driver is obviously not respecting him, and unless the cop has a valid reason to suspect anything, and if the driver was not going more than 10 mph over, the driver probably shouldn't be ticketed. I say save the attitude for drivers who have an attitude themselves, and who were actually excessively speeding and/or driving dangerously.
