Poor Bill.
Wouldn't this be a given for FOX News?
OMG. That bastion of journalism, Mother Jones, has a hard hitting piece here. MSM, get in line to repeat the libtard talking points.
I am no fan of Fox News, believe me, but this is just stupid for a number of reasons.
#1 - Bill O'Reilly is not a newscaster. He does not pretend to be a newscaster. Everyone knows that he is a right-wing talk show host.
#2 - Bill O'Reilly is actually correct that you can cover wars from places other than the battlefield. Most journalists covering a war are not on the battlefield. Most of the journalists covering the recent wars do so from hotels in close proximity from the fighting. So he was likely with the other journalists.
#3 - Who cares. It is Bill O'Reilly. See bullet #1.
There clearly is a double standard here. Brian Williams engaging in deception for the purpose of self puffery is a story. Brian Williams was thought to be credible and ethical.
Any Fox newsman engaging in deception for the purpose of self puffery (which O'Reilly clearly does) doesn't seem the shocking. It's almost expected.
No Bill you lied because you didn't report from a war zone. Bill stated, "You know that I am not easily shocked. I've reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands." That is false.
The bar is set low for you Bill because if Brian said this we would all be upset.
Fox want touch Bill and the Brojos will delete this thread very soon.

You're right except for one thing:
I have a hard time convincing stupid people of your first point.
And there are too many people who think he is important.
What will his punishment be? He'll likely get promoted.
Poor, poor Bill.
Never Forget Andrea Mackris!

#2 Bill is NOT CORRECT. He stated that he was on the ground in a war zone and that is why (rephrased) he doesn't get rattled easily (classic self puffery)
#1 & 2 Bill is highly respected by the right and they care very much about him and what he says. Although not a newscaster, I still ethics should be relevant even for Bill. (Yes the bar is set lower, but he still needs a bar set right?)
Papa Bear delivers the capital T TRUTH every time he gets in front of the camera, and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
Shows how twitchy the Left is now.
This is pretty as it just shows that the pendulum is beginning to swing back and the nation has not been fully dismantled...yet.
Dismantled? This isn't 2008, my friend. The rebuilding is well underway.
There is nothing even remotely similar between the two cases, or even Hillary Clintons whoppers. OReilly said he reported from a war zone. Fact.Williams and Clinton repeatedly fabricated tall tales of specific intances of being shot at. Theyve repeated and embellished on their talees over time.
Mother Jones? MSNBC? Does anyone take them seriously?
Look, Brian Williams lied and deserves to be out, but let's face it, on the right, the fabrication and exaggeration of stories is the norm, not the exception. Every broadcast of Fox News or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or O'Reilly is rife with factual errors and out and out lies, by design.
I had this conversation with my Dad two weeks ago. I told him that I didn't understand why it's a three day news cycle story that Brian Williams was puffing his foreign assignment memories. Puffing and spinning and bending the story is their job and they all do it. That's why Americans under age 40 don't watch the evening news any more because it's not really news. He said it was important, that guys in these positions are trusted not to make stuff up. I agreed just that it didn't seem to rise to a multi-day story type of event. If a guy lies on his resume you just suspend/fire him and that's the end. The legs of the story seemed more political than of substance.
I don't care if OReilly jags his old stories either. The guy's show isn't even a serious attempt at news reporting, it's commentary and ginned up stances on stuff that gets old people like my dad all fired-up about things that don't affect his day-to-day. OReilly's obviously being singled out for getting too much run ripping Williams. Someone thought it'd be fun to turn the mirror on him and his own tales of grandeur. I guess it's comic to see these guys confronted by the crap they shill to the public, but again, not really mission critical revelations here.
always remember; bill oreilly is a draft dodging coward
I stand by "dismantled". You must be a trustfund baby.
