Figured I'd post an update. I had the ablation done this morning. It was a long process, and the procedure ended up taking 7hrs + bed rest for 4hrs. They had a lot of trouble trying to bring on the arrhythmia in a clinical setting. Eventually they got it and said afterwards that it is about 99% that it was successfully ablated.
I actually went into Afib twice and got cardioconverted twice over the course of the procedure. My symptoms captured on the monitor however (leading up to the ablation), did not indicate Afib, as the rate was a steady 240+bpm. The Afib I felt during the procedure today was totally different than what I'm used to experiencing in workouts. They said that the Afib was brought on by them basically trying to recreate my symptoms, and that it wasn't a cause for concern. The type of SVT that I had (and was treated for) was AVNRT. I will take a week off completely and then build back into running as recommended by my Dr.
My groin is pretty damn sore right now but I'm sure that will improve in the next few days. The procedure certainly wasn't pleasant, but wasn't the worst thing in the world. I was on a IV drip for hydration and kept having to pee, so the nurse would have to hold my penis while I peed into a plastic bottle. Kind of awkward but whatever. I also woke after the second cardioconversion (I was totally out for about 30min and completely disoriented when I woke up) and said to the nurse "you look pretty cute, we should go out some time." Overall an interesting, somewhat hilarious day, that I don't want to repeat ever again. And man I have a whole new respect for nurses now.
