Meh. Amankwah, Kidder, Schnulle, Kinnaird, Arroyo are just as fast and about the same age.
Amankwah is actually 23 now, so that's old for a senior, but he did go through the community college system and he was already old before then. But from what i've heard he'll run for Ghana. He has the best PR of this group besides Walker, and now has national final experience. Arroyo has shown a lack of racing savvy when it comes to qualifying or national finals, but he is still young. Kidder seems to be focusing more on the 1500, and I think that's a smart move based on his PR's. There's a pretty small sample size for Capwell, but he seems like a Wheating type runner with a similar background. Besides Shaq, Schnulle probably has the brightest future for USA 800 runners. Looks like his PR's have dropped steadily every year, and he almost timed his kick at outdoor finals perfectly.
Do you think this group will surpass the current crop of pro 800 runners when they get to that level? I think there has been a lull in the last couple years, with Greer winning in 1:46 and last year in 1:46. But it looks like a lot of them will be getting back into the 1:45's like the Jock, Andrews, Wheating, Martin, Loxsom, Primm group did.
