Love it, good on Zane. This what training hard, suffering and living for the sport gets you.

YESSSSSSS props to the Robertson bros for doing something most couldn't. So sick
The fact he is white makes him an immediate darling of LetsRun, and gives us hope and inspiration. He also typifies hard work and dedication, as we can't all be African genetic marvels. As a Kiwi, I would be mortified if he were doping, We have an excellent reputation, but I can see why people might see it as a suspiciously large improvement.
Seems like his dreams are coming true. Unreal. Was definitly NOT expecting this.
I am surprised that the internet is not broken yet. Truly an awesome effort.
His IAAF head shot is pretty sweet:

The brothers come across as very likeable in the documentary "Running Away From Nothing" which is a bonus feature on the "Transcend" (Wesley Korir) movie.
ZR is a Caucasian marvel. And hopefully clean.
How many sub 60 guys have broken 3.35 for the 1500? I could only find 1 prior to Zane - the great Haile (Granted Mo Farah ran 60.00). Zane ran 3.34 in Rieti in September, and now this 59.47 in January. That is an unbelievable combination of speed and strength shown in a short time frame.
Certainly an excellent result, but seems to be believable and not an unreasonably fast trajectory. (Of course, as will be pointed out, he -- like every other person on the planet -- could be cheating at everything, all the time...) But with that possibility noted, as is obligatory, the fact that a 3:34 & 13:13 guy, properly prepared, ran 59:47 in a deep, fast race does not seem unreasonable.
I suppose what is somewhat uncommon in his trajectory -- if one thinks of him as of today as a half-marathon runner -- is that he came up primarily as a 1500 runner. His progression in recent years is
2011 (age 21) 3:41
2012 (22) 3:36
2013 (23) 3:35
2014 (24) 3:34
He made his 5k debut in 2011 (13:58) & also ran WXC that year. But he really didn't make 5k a priority until the last 2 seasons, when he did 13:13 & 13:14.
His progression is not all that different from Ryan Hall's. Hall ran 13:16 in 2005, and 59:43 in January 2007, at age 24. (He did run 2 20k races in 2006.)

Also Kipchoge, another runner with incredible range. But who knows if Robertson is going to be a great marathoner like those guys. HM is not very predictive.
2:25 off the NR... damn.
Even if he doesn't turn out to be a great marathoner, he will probably be great from 1500-10k this year if he gets back on the track, which he probably will.
A journeyman clearly desperate to break into the elite ranks. Hopefully it is a huge congratulation and not a hello to a Hunter-Galvan. A lot to gain and a lot to lose.

59:48 isn't elite?
Tough crowd!

The Robertson Documentary is a bonus feature of Transcend. It is available for download or on DVD/Blu-Ray.
Thanks!
