I have no dog in the fight here but every single person on this site would bitch and complain if they made the publicized standard, only to have the standard changed. No one that is competent at USATF (Duffy Mahoney) could see that the mile standard wasn't equivalent to the 1500 standard. Any college coach would have looked and seen the difference. But no matter what, the athletes prepared, raced, and achieved the standard only to be told that it was not longer the standard. This is just BS. I sense a real dislike for the Brooks people on this website and don't understand why. I know several of them and they are really nice people, far nicer than the Nike folks. This just sucks for them since everyone just assumes they can go someplace else and hit the standard but when your training/racing schedule has been established, and you have commitments to other meets it just is inappropriate.
It appears that posters on here are missing the point. It was USATF screw-up (again) from the beginning and athletes are the ones to suffer.
