My new Cholesterol readings. I don't want to take statins!

First time posting on this thread dude. Not sure what your problem is. I haven't seen you dismantle anything. All I did was provide evidence that things are all what the medical establishment would have us think. We see class action lawsuits all the time for implants approved by government agencies. I am sure research was done on these prior to being approved. People have won class action suits against pharmaceutical companies because drugs had side effects that the research suppressed or didn't show during the trials. Many people believe the food pyramid, once a staple, is a joke. I hope other people see that and see there is an alternative theory to what some leading experts would have us believe. Certainly you have to see that not all the research supports your views or the views of many MD's.

Other stuff to consider:

Regularly eat nuts (almonds etc., not peanuts)

Very dark chocolate -- I put 60% cacao choc chips on my morning oatmeal. 6g sugar/serving isn't so bad

Green tea -- seems to reduce cardiac risk

Eat legumes with meals that have a bunch of easily digested carbs, like white rice. This will also help you eat less.

0 (industrial) trans fats -- easy. The science behind this is inarguable. Effects of natural trans fats are debatable.

Eliminate added sugar as much as possible

Berries -- you can get frozen ones in the winter

Alcohol -- debatable, but seems to help as long as you don't binge often.

Many MDs ARE idiots, on that we agree. I am talking about the majority expert opinion of the group of MDs and PhD nutrition experts that specialize in these topics.

And of course I agree that not ALL research supports my view. But more of it does than does not.

The vaccination issue by the way has nothing to do with this topic. Just because some people are stupid enough to believe God wrote or inspired the Bible doesn't mean their opinions other issues should be discarded.

Note to "Confirmation Bias". I know you were commenting to T Rex, not me. T Rex actually added to my comments with other info, which is what we'd expect to see as the knowledge of lipids progresses.

And it doesn't hurt me to call me names. Actually, I have been a hospital "porter" if you mean someone who served food trays, when I was working my way through undergrad. I've also scrubbed floors in a hospital while in high school. No shame in doing that, and no shame in the garbage worker who picks up my trash weekly either. All these jobs are essential, I believe.

Perhaps I didn't write my comments as a thesis, no problem. But I have worked professionally, in hospitals, since 1986. I do have 2 Master's degrees, in Ex Phys (with thesis) and in Health Care Admin. from Ball State and U of KS respectively, as well as being certified as an Exercise Specialist through ACSM since 1988. So I have done some studies on the topic, which is of interest to me.

I should note that my last two years have been working in a running specialty store, so I don't find it demeaning to hold dirty shoes or help people put shoes on their feet, just as I did when helping cardiac patients in hospitals get up for their first walk after bypass surgery.

I agree somewhat with your point (about the Bible, or about one holding other opinions unrelated to a health topic such as politics possibly), however, the vaccination issue is a great litmus test to determine if one is truly a knowledgeable person about health and science or a pseudo-sciece, fad-following, dummy (at least for me, but for many others too). Someone who questions the idea of vaccinations and doesn't vaccinate his kids....that is INDEED all I need to know about them in order to make up my mind about their standing as "health expert".

However, I have also read some of his other articles, and he 100%, as many bloggers do, ignores contrary evidence to his views and constructs a great argument for his viewpoints by cherry picking the results he likes. He also appears to have no particular relevant education or training in nutrition.

I am both relying on the mainstream, majority expert opinion, and my opinion which is based on a broader reading of the literature than what I've seen him reference (he leaves out so much), and based on my advanced degree in said topic.

Have I given a satisfactory answer to you on why I don't respect most of his viewpoints, and why I do indeed think I know more than he does when it comes to the topic of nutrition?
