How I promised, I want to put on line the blood values of the best Chinese atlete in Asian Games.
I had the opportunity to have blood tests with the Whole Team (16 athletes) every week, for a long period of time. I think is the first time it's possible to control the evolution of blood values during a long period of training, both at sea level and in altitude.
The training camp started in Beijing, but we could start the investigation from the beginning of July only, when we moved from Beijing to Changbaishan (800m altitude).
From 14th July (after the competition of National GP in Jinan) we moved to altitude in Duoba (2300m), where there is a very nice center, with 3 tracks, one indoor track, possibility to host about 1000 athletes of different sports, and an advanced lab for analysis.
We remained in altitude till 31st August, when moved to Changbaishan again. Immediately after our arrival in Changbaishan, we had one competition for controlling the shape of the Group, with not olympic distances (1000m and 3000m). Our training continued in Changbaishan till when we left for the Asian Games in Korea (Incheon), on 24th September.
I put here the data of the 3 athletes able to win medals in Asian Games : DING Changqin (10000m / 5000m), ZHAO Jing (800m) and LI Zhenzhu (3000m steeple).
DING Changqin
She joined the National Team on 22 July, directly in the training camp in altitude (Duoba, 2300m).
When she joined the National Team, she came from running in Jinan (11th July) 10000m in 33’26”85, and two days later 5000m in 15’47”37. In spite of these times, in my opinion she could be better in the longest distance, and her training was finalized to run 10000m in Asian Games.

Immediately after goin from Duoba to Changbaishan (altitude 800m), Zhao Jing ran a competition of 1000m in 2’40”53. In Asian Games she ran 800m, with times of 2’02”98 (heats on 30th Sep) and final (bronze medal) on 1st Oct going for the first time under 2’ (1’59”48).
LI Zhenzhu
She has a PB of 9’32”35 from 2007, and is the oldest in the Team (29 years).
She ran in 2013 in 9’53” and was injured in Nov-Dec, so I decided to rebuild a good level of endurance using a training for longer distances from Jan to Apr. She ran two HM in March (1:14’04” her best), and a good 10 km on road in April (33’39”).
Immediately after going back China, she ran 3000m in 9’32”, showing a normal lack of speed.
After this period she had tendon problems, stopped training for more than one month, and joined the National Team again at the end of June, with about one month of general preparation in Changbaishan before moving in altitude in Duoba.
