...dropping your body weight until you look sick just so that you can force your body to run 24.2 miles doesn't make you "fit".
Time for a brief lesson about what 'fitness' is, if you've got the time (and the capacity to LEARN)...
Adaptation to a specific physical stress is called "fitness," REGARDLESS of the specifics of that physical stress.
That's it. It's simple, but you may need to re-read it a few times.
This should presumably settle the endless arguments (often brought about by Cross-Fitters like yourself) about who is more fit: a swimmer, a Cross-Fit fanatic or a skinny little runner, but alas, it usually doesn't.
EACH ATHLETE IS EQUALLY FIT for the unique demands of their respective sports/activities. If, for example, you were to define fitness as the physical skill required to hit a ball a long way accurately with a wooden stick, then a baseball player can be considered the fittest.
(Chuck Norris isn't factored into any of this, of course.)
End of today's lesson.
Lets hear some more stories! I'm looking to get pumped up hearing some guys running PRs after increasing mileage.
LETS DO THIS.

Mileage can also be dangerous if you spend the rest of your time sitting at a desk.
