Regardless of this last game, BR in the end will hurt the Steelers this year and future years. One off the charts game a season doesn't get you what you want in the NFL.
But it isn't just one off the charts game by itself. It's one off the charts game in the midst of years of better than average games with a few stinkers thrown into the mix. And what you do want in the NFL more than ever is a better than average quarterback.
BR is a good quarterback in the NFL. Arguably one of the top quarterbacks. Football is a team sport so it's hard to single out a quarterback as the only problem a team has.

522 yds passing 6 touchdowns against a very good Colts defense.
That defense was missing their #1 corner for 80%+ of the game, and others dropped like flies during the game. Let's see what he does next week.

Couple all of this push to promote the dink & dunk with a QB that is the opposite. Ben has made a living with deep drops, holding the ball, and creating.
I am replying to my own post made a few weeks ago. Maybe it is the schemes of the match-up with Indy, but they seemed to abandon the dink & dunk. Ben dropped deep and held the ball, opposite of what they have been doing nearly all year. The protection was very solid. The only quick receiver bubble screen they ran lost yards. They had been running those plays over and over earlier in the season.
Maybe it is Indy's lack of a receiving running back, but Worilds was finally free to rush the QB. Teams have been running plays that forced he and the rolb to drop into coverage almost every play and rarely putting pressure on the QB. They still gave up 34 though.
Ok, I have to admit I panicked. Big Big is playing like a super hero now. 6 touchdowns 2 weeks in a row, amazing. Especially when you consider he has done it against 2 pretty good defenses in Indy and Baltimore. Also, the defense is getting nasty. 36 yr old James Harrison is playing like a beast. I LOVE IT!
Here in Pittsburgh we have a winning tradition. After two 8-8 seasons another mediocre or bad season is unacceptable. This town was furious and heads were going to roll. Players and coaches jobs were on the line and it lit a fire under their feet. We have to keep it up though, we have the Jets next and they scare me. Lately the Steelers have played bad against sucky teams.
After this season Big Ben will have solidified his spot as a first ballot Hall Of Famer.
No, you elites think everyone is just like you. Not everyone has fancypants wrist clocks. Without the boings, we'll never know what time it is.

374 yards passing and 6 more touchdowns. What's your excuse now? Was it because Ray Lewis wasn't playing?
Ooh.
Losing to the Jets has got to hurt.
2 Picks thrown by Big Ben. Time to get rid of him.

See my earlier post. They went back to the dink and dunk after a 3 game hiatus and right back to terrible play. Ben had 15 completions at halftime,.............for 36 yards. The OC was again trying to fit the players into his genius system instead of playing to the strength of the players. Why did he go away from something that was starting to work?
Might have something to do with nothing being available to him downfield due to coverage and thus having to dump it off shorter.
To remain a loyal fan I have tried telling myself things like that, but it is those WR screens, quick throws, 2 step drops,.... It is maddening. At halftime Ben had 15 completions for 36 yards. Yes, less than 3 yards per completion. Pathetic!
Always interesting when two quarterbacks with sexual assault charges face off.

Vick has never had sexual assault charges and although Roethlisberger did not appear to be innocent, he did not have any charges filed against him.
It was interesting though.
What I found, as a Steeler fan, and Pittsburgher, is the amount of Steeler fans that filled the Metlife Stadium for the Jets , Steelers game. Where were the Jets fans?
I mean, we Steeler fans took up about 40% of that stadium. You Jet fans are sad. Sure you come out and stick out your chests after your biggest win in 4 years, but where were you???? And, now you are a whopping 2-8. CELEBRATE Baby!!!
No-shows for your own home game. Embarrassing!!!
Time to reunite with Santonio Holmes, now that the Bears ditched him?
