he doesn't look native american!
Where did Leo Kormanik fall at? I heard he fell but I didn't hear how!
The course is difficult, but the Southeastern Meet and Regional Meet they'll hold there in a couple weeks are fast because of the competition.
The race starts up a gentle incline then a little down and uphill through the first mile. The second mile is fairly rolling and if memory serves me the third mile starts with a very steep hill. The fourth mile is a near repeat of the first save for the gentle incline at the start. The last mile is a near repeat of the third with that steep hill again. Overall it's one of if not the most difficult course the teams will face with two steep inclines and 5 or so other hills.
Alan
After that steep hill there's another hill about 300 meters later.
i heard Malone guy fell around 2.5m. there is a sharp turn and he bit it. i believe he was in 2nd at the time. shortly after the fall keino caught him.
the course is different now compared to when life ran there a couple years ago. It is about 30-40 seconds slower for 8k than the national course in Louisville.
The course is fair. Definitely a good cross country course.
According to the meet director the course is identical to the course when the Life guys ran on it. He mentioned loose footing and the ground being wet but otherwise same course.
I watched the fall, at the time the Malone guy and Alliant guy were together. They went around the sharp turn and the Malone guy slipped, the Virginia Intermount guy was about 10 seconds up on both at the time. Malone guy didnt miss a beat, he was right back in it right away, and he ran with Alliant untill 4.5 miles to go
i ran on the course when life was there and the finish line was different.
I was there during the change. I was there when the Life guys ran 4:30 through the first mile and the year later when they altered the course. You can't run 4:30 through the first mile anymore with the gradual hill from the start. The start and finish are slightly different. They used to not start up a gradual hill and so the start/finish changed somewhat but the "guts" are still the same. Slow course or not, I ran my two fastest cross times on the course simply because of time of year (late October/November) and comp (Southeastern Meet/Regional-Conference). Hilly courses can be fast (Papa Johns, Life guys running 23:30, ect).
Like someone said earlier, the only reason that the times look fast overall is because of the competition.
