So I ran one final tune up race. It was a ten k on pretty hilly course with about 350 ft. of gain... and with a severe head cold (hometown race, already signed up... blah blah blah).
I ran a 40:25, which is about 6 secs off my standalone PR. I would have loved to break 40, but a week after 70 miles and a 24 miler with a workout three days prior, I suppose I shouldn't feel too disappointed. It's just crazy that my ten k pace is 6:30, my ten miler pace is 6:32, and my half pace is 6:32 as well. Boy do I lack speed! I'll stay on 3:02 pace at the marathon (6:59) and wait for 20 to take a crack at something lower.
