Maybe they should set their sights a little higher than all-Ohio? Maybe progress to all tri-state? All Appalachia? Regardless, this school is obviously a national power and does not need any additional runners.
Go down the river to Marshall University. They take anyone that has a pulse.
If you're looking for a good MAC school, go to Akron. They won MAC in track 3 of the last 4 championships, second in MAC xc this year and are the ones to beat this year. Speaking of all-ohio.... guess who got first? beat OU and Miami both? yeah, it was Akron. So, if you want to be with the best, the best are at the SUMMIT of track and field, the University of Akron.
Shoot an e-mail to Jared Nelson, recruiting coordinator and assistant cross country coach. He will be the one to contact.
You won't get noticed by them with your PR's.
Run under:
5k: 16:20
3200: 9:45
1600: 4:30
Then you have a decent shot.
Contact the Assistant Throws Coach. It's your best chance.
They run about 5-7 competitive Track and Field meets paid for by the school. Coach Bentley trains the men year round.
The training allows each athlete to take matters into their own hands. It's structured (daily, weekly, month by month). The majority of the team does run 80-90+ miles (freshman typically hit 60-70 over the summer). The area is renowned for training due to its abundance of hills and countryside (Arthur Lydiard visited Athens, OH noting it's training perks).
The team is consists of hardworking men and women that train hard and enjoy college life.
The fact that the men are still relevant despite having a fully funded NCAA Track and Field program should be enough to tell you that it's worth a visit.
Ahem, The fact that the men are still relevant despite NOT having a fully funded NCAA Track and Field program should be enough to tell you that it's worth a visit.
Plenty of great runners have graduated from there since the program cuts in 2006.

But, you'd be living in Akron.
Im pretty sure OU is third (at best) in the state to akron and OSU. Akron rolled OU and I would even give at the end of the season Ashland and Malone a chance to beat OU.
Did I really just OU ran their B team? Thats funny if they have a B team where were their A runners at any meet they have ever run at?

Ohioman,
After that cesspool of communication, please identify the college that granted you admission.

That mess sounds like it came out of my father's mouth who grew up in southern Ohio. As sad as it is, I understood every bit, but had to laugh anyway.
I have sent 3 runners to OU and its a bad program. Their coaches failed to improve on any of their HS marks. One was a state runner up miler who was wicked fast.
They have all told me that the coaching and training was a joke
Central has done well developing guys who were nothing special in the least in high school. They just got some good freshmen this year and they only lose 1 senior from their top 5 after this year. I wouldn't hurt to email the assistant coach and see where you are at.
Too bad Lydiard didn't realize how exceptional the pancake flat paved bike path is for running every single run and workout on. He forgot to suggest that so OU's coaches decided to implement it on their own.
This sounds super bitter. You probably couldn't handle the 15-20 hilly runs that surround the area...
It would be very bitter if I had some sort of connection to OU running - but I have no stakes in the program. I'm just stating a fact about the program and how they don't run the hilly routes that surround the area. I agree, the area is hilly, and could be an exceptional training area, but it's not being used by the teams.
