As far as D1 is concerned, you're done.

it is pretty common to see byu runners listed as juniors and seniors when 25-26 years old.
I love when ppl post completely made up info, esp when it's bass ackwards of the reality.fact: your D-1 clock starts when you enroll in 12 or more units. at age 21, further disincentives kick in: these include losing a season of comp for each "type" of racing you do. ex, if you run an indoor mile, you just lost a season of indoors. if you run a road race, you lose a season of all three, which i think is bullcrap, but whatevs.further facts: you are completely welcome to take money as a professional athlete- provided it was NOT as a runner. go ahead and sign a minor league baseball contract and make money at it, do that from 18-28, then start college at 29. you now have 5 yrs of D1 eligibility as a runner. Now, if you did that as a triathlete, you now have zero yrs of eligibility, as your chosen sport incorporated running, thus the first time you took money, you made yourself ineligible for life (unless you're galen rupp ;)always surprised how much misnformation gets tossed about regarding age "limits" (which don't exist), though I guess it IS letsrun.com, haha.

In Division 1 your clock starts when you graduate from high school, not when you enroll as a full time student. From the year you graduate, you have 5 years to complete 4. I don't know the situation or circumstances surrounding that young man. Maybe he was in the military or went on a religious mission trip. I know the NCAA will/can stop an individual's clock in those situations.

thanks 'not my real name'. to build on that: you didnt say anything about your clock automatically starting at 21. Does that mean if there was some 13:00 kenyan who only ran track and never ran roads/xc, he could come to the NCAA and do 4 yrs of cross? no matter what age? that would be pretty badass. although i suppose all of these guys get their start in little xc/road races back home.
I guess the U of I did not understand the rules last year.

This article proves how ridiculous it is to see him racing this fall.
Way more legitimiate than all those over-age Keenyans
