Pump and run? Sure, more than a few times.
Once you wake up in the light of morning and see some of the skank I tagged the night before you'd run to. Fast!
Puny little piss ants lifting weights. So funny! Better get your speedwork in so you can have a good run time. The women runners are going to lift as much as you do. Ha ha hahaha.
mr. chest's man breasts are getting so huge, that he can't even wipe his own ass. keep pumping champ!
Hey! Maybe you aught to get into the pump & run event, Mr. Chest!
Hes to afraid of getting beat by the women.

I always wanted to do one of these. Too bad I didn't when I could do 16:00 and still bench my weight 25 times. I'm faster now but the bench wouldn't go as well.
Arnold Pump and Run changed the rules last year from 1 min for first 5 reps plus 30 sec for each rep up to 30 to 1 min for EACH REP. Kind of makes it impossible for a runner to compete at all, you're basically eliminated if you can't do 25.
AH, I have done that race twice. If you don't do 30 reps you won't have much of a chance unless you run under 15:00. It is geared for the lifter. You can increase your endurance as a lifter but it is hard to get to 30 reps of any weight let alone your body weight. 40 year olds only do 90% and 50+ do 80% of body weight. I once saw a 50 year old do 70% of his weight 101 times at one of these races in cleveland. He only weighed about 110 lbs. He got 30 seconds per rep and ran about 25:00 for 5km. He was un-beatable. Arnold puts a limit on the number of reps so that won't happen. The most time you can gain is 15:00. I think it is just a little to much and would be better if it were 20 seconds per lift but I am not race director and I train for the rules as they are.
I would say being 40 and only having to do 90% of your body weight has its advantages too. Go here for last year's results:

Stan Nichol is one of the better masters runners in Central Ohio, and he blazed a 16:34 to finish second overall (because he benched 90% of his weight 27 times) and he finished second in the 5K race to a guy who ran 16:28 but could only bench his weight 9 times. The guy who won the race portion in 16:28 finished 99th overall due to his poor showing in the bench press.
Geared for the lifter for sure.
Mr. Chest, I'd like to see you shakin your booty out there in your lifting outfit. You sexy man you!
I wonder in the Pump and Run if it is done with free weights or machine. I would think it would have to be with using a machine and the lifters aren't really lifting anything close to their own weight as compared on free weights. Otherwise you'd see a lot more zeros that there are--cause most runners couldn't come close to actually lifting their own weight free weights--well--in 30 seconds I'd say that maybe 5 reps would be normal--but mostly there would be zeros--I have no doubt about that.
It is with free weights and you don't get 30 seconds to lift it, you subtract 30 seconds for each rep that you complete. Yes, there are several people in the race that don't get thier weight up even one time, I am not sure why they would pay the high entry fee to do this.
