The beard itself is not a trend. It really is the natural state of man.
It's the men who have the beards nowadays that make it a trend. College kids, hipsters, metro-1920s dorks, crossFit warriors. It's these people that make beards an annoying trend.

Interesting. Not sure about the "trend" part, other than the whole no-shave November fad that college boys take part in every year. But that only lasts a month. I have a pretty righteous beard at the moment. I'm nine months in without shaving, and don't intend to for the foreseeable future. It's incredibly convenient not having to shave every other day. It had nothing to do with "pretending to be Alpha" either. I was just curious what a beard would look like on me, and it turns out I like it.
