So I ran my senior year of High School, both XC and Track, pretty much always ran a few times a year then hopped in an annual 5k since I was 7 besides that. I'm 23 now, actually trying to take it serious and train well. I ran somewhere near 21:30 with no training , then I put in a little under 2 months of training and ran an 18:53 5K this past Saturday followed by a leg in a relay about 45-50 minutes later that was 7 miles @ 6:45 pace. I ran a long run of 12 miles a few weeks out, anywhere from 30 to 40 miles a week for the month immediately before the race, not considering the taper which was less. I want to turn right around and build up to 50+ miles a week, maybe even hit 70 before a series of races in December through February before taking a break. Is that way too much, am I bound to overtrain, is this foolish? Appreciate the input!
